Woolton & Gateacre

Here are some interesting views of many buildings, produced before 1950. Not sure why thee buildings were the focus of so many paintings, cameras were available weren't they? Maybe it was a project of some kind. Woolton/ Gateacre are lovely parts of the city. Courtesy Liverpool Records Office.

The biggest regret of my life was, I never bought the shop and property in the third picture.

Believe it or not, I could have bought it in 1980 for 3.000 pounds and I didn't.

It's a good book isn't Mandy. Have you got her two other books which are a collection of the paintings of Herdeman and Tankard. Kay was part of the Liverpool Records Office archives team when I was sourcing photographs for my books. Very helpful she was.
