I've got quite a few photos of trams and busses on my hard drive, but can anyone tell me how I can post them on here?

Does anyone know when the trams stopped going along Aigburth road? I've seen a photo of Dingle overhead railway station from April 1955 and Park Road doesn't appear to have any tram lines showing in frame.

Hello Eric

As far as I know, the trams stopped running by the early 1960's. Someone else can give you a better date, I am sure.

Car 293 now languishes in a warehouse at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine, USA.

Thanks very much for the replies. But I'm after information as regards the last time that a tram travelled along Aigburth road specifically. The final date of the last tram to go along that particular route. I know that various routes closed after the war, but I really would like to know if it was still possible to get tram to Aigburth in April of 1955.

Eric, the last trams ran in Aigburth Road on Saturday 6th June 1953. The tram was route 33 which became the 87 bus.

...and the Aigburth Rd. tracks remained a hazard to cyclists well into the 60's....:)

Thing is....why tarmac over perfectly good cobbled roads in the first place? these cobbled roads would have outlasted the roads that have been laid in the last 30 years and the present.

Bloody potholes everywhere, yer don't get potholes in cobbled roads, the tram tracks could have been panelled over or tarmac in the gap itself....this then means the tracks can be used anytime in the future again.

But its all down to one thing with roads....it keeps the council workforce in employment.
What was in the council office now?....oh I know lets vlindfold eachother and stick a pin in the map and thats where we will dig our holes for the coming month.
