1. What's the minimum wage for a 19 year old in England?

2. I need to get a job quickly just to earn some money at first. Which kind of jobs am I likely to get quickly?

3. Is there a point in going to bars or restaurants and ask if they need someone? Is this a common thing to do in England?

Hi Fabienne, the minimum wage for a 19 year old is £4.45 an hour, it will be £4.60 an hour from 1st October.

I dont think there's any harm in going to bars/restaurants asking for a job, quite often there is a sign in windows asking for staff. If you need work quickly the hotel/restaurant trade is where you'll most likely start.

Does anyone think that lower minimum wage for younger adults Is age discrimination?
