The West newspaper this morning has just reported that 124 train drivers were interviewed and 3% of them fall asleep at their control's regular and 80% admitted on long jouney's ( when going express from one terminus to another to start their duty/ journey) they NOD off A driver who had a green light at 0330 in the morning nodded off and the brakes on the train was applied as he went though 2 speed restictions. the train from Mandurah to Perth has speeds up to 135 kph between station's, I think I will be wondering if the train driver is asleep if the train is going fast:eek::eek:

Not sure, but I think all the trains have dead man peddles were you have to hold the pedel down with your foot and if you drop off and relax, the pedal rises and the train stops.

They have dead man handles on some Blighty trains but I didn't know that there were pedals as well
