View Full Version : Best pic you've ever taken? Sloyne 06-29-2007, 12:21 AM What is the best picture you've ever taken? And why do you consider it your best? snappel 06-29-2007, 01:26 AM Difficult one. My favourite isn't necessarily my best photo. Hard to explain, but whilst somebody might say one photo of mine in particular is better than the rest, my favourite would be one that is a photo I'm proud of, but also one that had a story behind it, or meant something special. I need to think about this I think.. EDIT: Ok, favourite is easy, not sure if it answers your question. Here it is... http://www.level-two.co.uk/reports/images/shoreham/doll.jpg After an early morning explore of an old cement works, I'd taken a couple of rolls of film on my old Pentax 35mm. When I got the photos back, most were 'ok', but this one stood out. There was something about the fact that in the middle of this huge derelict cement works, the doll was just there. Lying face down, it just kind of summed up the despair of the place. A toy, once loved by a small child somewhere had by some chain of events ended up in this quarry. Also, it was before digital, so I took the shot once, and had no idea whether it would work or not until the prints came back. The version above is slightly cropped, and the watermark spoils it, but for convenience I just linked to the version on my website. Max 06-29-2007, 02:06 AM The ones of Kev taking his Mini to bed. I think It said Just Married of one of the bumpers too. PhilipG 06-29-2007, 09:34 AM The last one! Without sounding pompous, I think we all try to do better. Snappel has put it very well. Some are very happy accidents. Like this: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/119/279096926_aefe0873b9_b.jpg Ged 06-29-2007, 10:03 AM A great pic of the cricket stumps Phil, nice colours in the sky too. My best pic is probably one of my dad in Manchester Street who was accompanying me at the time to a roadrace I had in Wavertree, simply because it was the last photo of him before he died. I like that It's between two streets too(Arrad and Hope). Bah 500 pound photo editing suites? My sister downloaded Photoshop somewhere free I think. My camera was 269 on some cashback offer I got to send off for. Cadfael 06-29-2007, 12:59 PM Took this years ago with an old 3mp digi camera of Childwall Church. Wasn't fussed with the image of the church but wanted to see what the colours would turn out like - was amazed at the colour depth on such a basic camera. Who needs photoshop :PDT11 3657 eddie french 06-29-2007, 02:48 PM Not that I've got that many under my belt yet. But I like this one I took at the Middlewich Boat Festival. It's purely because of the great colours that it gets my vote as my best pic. although with these narrowboats I suppose it's an easy shot. http://www.simplywriting.co.uk/Boatsmall.jpg Kev 06-30-2007, 06:55 AM Here's mine: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/221/470297518_55b8408d2a.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ijob/470297518/) drone_pilot 06-30-2007, 11:27 AM The first picture i took, with my new Nikon D50, taken last year, in Newsham park. It looks like it should be on the front page of a horror book robbo176 07-08-2007, 12:04 AM this is not my best but one of my favourites http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/robbo176/ferry1.jpg Gnomie 07-08-2007, 01:49 AM My best pic by far is of my dad, laughing his head off (as he always did). 3 days before he died. i treasure it, its the last pic i ever took of him. apart from that i love every picture of my kids, nothing i can take of anything else can compare to them. plus the pics of my beautiful better half, she sure looks better than me on photies. Every other photo is a bonus. but i will post some of my favs soon.:unibrow:
