View Full Version : Transfer rumours!
Sloyne 06-24-2007, 12:25 AM Latest rumours sees Paul Scholes travelling down the motorway to sign for Everton. With Manchester United still in debt to Everton over the Rooney transfer the rumour sounds plausible, except, Scholes is about 33 years of age and that is a little long in the tooth for Moyes stated plans of building a young squad. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a royal blue shirt for a couple of seasons.

We get some right barmy rumours during the summer and Scholes to Everton is right up there with the barmiest imho.
One thing that does leave me scratching my head though is why the feck would Everton still be owed money by Manchester United for the Rooney transfer ?
What kind of numbskull would agree to a deal that saw one of the wealthiest clubs in the world be able to hang onto money owed to Everton for all this time ? I honestly find this hard to believe, but if it is the folks at Old Trafford must be laughing their socks off.
I really think Lfc would have had a great chance of the prem with Henry - but with a Man Utd has been, Forlan, in the frame instead and a prem untried Torres, are they thinking too low again - it seems teams will name their extortionate prices with lfc now, knowing that they have this supposed money.
Sloyne 06-25-2007, 12:09 AM I really think Lfc etc. Hi Ged, This being the Everton section I think it more appropriate that your post above would appear in the LFC section.

I think we made a very serious attempt to sign Henry but he'd made his mind up to play in Spain, pity, he's a class act and had already said how he'd like to play in front of the Liverpool fans. I hope to god that we don't sign Forlan, he was useless at manu. Torres might be able to do the job but nothings certain, I mean who would have thought that Morrientes would have been a failure ?

Quite right. Shame on you Ged for transgressing strict forum subject guidelines.
Sloyne 06-30-2007, 01:49 PM Latest player linked with Everton is Manchester Uniteds Alan Smith. Also, Everton are trying to off-load James Beatty. Good luck sez I.:)
Paul D 06-30-2007, 02:02 PM Alan Smith is way past his best,he's always injured. If we are going to spend £6M on him we might as well have a punt on Nugent.
Paul D 06-30-2007, 02:03 PM They're probably trying to get rid of a bit of Rooneys debt by offloading their hasbeens on us.
Sloyne 06-30-2007, 02:12 PM They're probably trying to get rid of a bit of Rooneys debt by offloading their hasbeens on us. Of course but, lets hope Moyes doesn't fall for it. Agree with you about Nugent.
Sloyne 07-03-2007, 01:27 PM The Allan Smith rumour persists but this time linked with Keiron Richardson, the Daily Post reports today.

First Scholes, then Smith, now Richardson.
It's only a matter of time before the bluenoses are linked with Nobby Stiles.
Sloyne 07-04-2007, 12:20 AM Tomorrows papers are reporting the imminent move from Sheffield United to Everton of Phil Jageilka. Also reports of a move for Wigan's Leyton Baines.
Sloyne 07-04-2007, 07:52 PM The Liverpool Echo are today 4, July 2007, reporting that Everton have signed Phil Jageilka from Sheffield United.
I'm always suspicious of players who have 'gone down' and I don't mean like Wayne Rooney on that grandma, i'm thinking more like Nicolas Alexandresson that time. I don't think relegated Kewell has ever fulfilled his promise over the road either and they won the CL a couple of years ago in spite of him not because of him (limping off at 0-3 then doing a lap of honour)
I also think Leyton James of Burnley is past his best too.
If we could get a 20 goal a season man (who knows if AJ hadn't missed the last 7 games and had been rightly awarded (Source: Keith Hackett) between 8-11 pens which were down to his trickery, speed and guille. I think if another team missed players like Cahill and AJ for that spell, I think Cahill was 11 games, anyone would be pleased finishing where we did.
Paul D 08-01-2007, 04:10 PM Leyton Baines was watching Everton last night,we've supposed to have upped our offer for him so hopefully he'll sign soon.
Sheffield United are confident they will sign James Beattie from Everton.
Blades boss Bryan Robson revealed over the weekend that he had made a bid for the striker, who fell down the pecking order at Goodison Park last season.
Everton are now understood to have accepted a £4million offer, with Robson confirming that he was already in talks with Beattie.
"I've spoken with James and his solicitor," Robson told The Sheffield Star.
"I'm not going to go into the exact details but yes we've talked.
"With the chairman away however we've had to take one or two things slowly.
"But I expect to know by the end of the week."

Gnomie 08-09-2007, 01:04 PM If you believe the rumours fling around today then we seem to have £20 million for players.....Oh is that a pig flying over there......... seems a publicity stunt to me ahead of the new ground vote. if it is then really bad show by the board.

Paul D 08-14-2007, 02:45 PM EVERTON are on the verge of breaking their transfer record by completing the signing of Manuel Fernandes today.
The Portuguese midfielder last night withdrew from the Benfica squad for tonight’s Champions League qualifier after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.
Fernandes is now poised to decide on a permanent switch to Goodison and Everton hope to tie up the deal before tonight’s Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
They have agreed to pay the amount – believed to be £9million – which requires Benfica to release the 50% they own of the player.
Paul D 08-17-2007, 03:09 PM Yakubu looks like becoming Everton's record signing next! I hope so he's quality.

The clubs have now agreed terms for an £11.25 million fee.:handclap:
Paul D 08-30-2007, 11:01 PM Everton re-sign Gravesen on loan
Gravesen joined Celtic from Spanish side Real Madrid
Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen has re-joined Everton on loan for the rest of the season.
Gravesen has struggled to establish himself at Celtic after signing from Real Madrid for £2m in August 2006.
The Dane had five years at Everton in his first spell at Goodison after joining in July 2000 before leaving for Madrid in January 2005.
"I really look forward to coming back to Everton and to once again play at the top level," said Gravesen.
