Brothers and sisters, bit of a mixed thread, but as a boy, one of my favourite t.v. programmes was the above mentioned archive series.Made by Pathe News, and voice overs by leading actors of the 50's, it spanned the 20th century's social history.
It is being re-run currently, and last night while watching, I spotted a brief clip of a bus,Albatross Sleeping coach/bus motoring along William Brown St.I wasn't aware that there were such things in Liverpool in the 30's! Can anyone enlighten me further?
This is still one of my favourite progs, and I also enjoy trying to put a name to the aforementioned voices, some easy, others not so.
Ta ta for the nonce.

There were definitely buses in Liverpool in the 1930s and probably overnighter coaches.

A programme I first watched in th 70's,so it's great to see it back on,again! Just off to look up Roger Livesy, who narrates that last clip! His voice is so familiar, but no idea what he looked like!

Steve, If my memory serves me, Roger Liversey was a great and well known british actor! he played such parts as Dr Watson in the old Sherlock Holmes films. An many other such parts.:PDT11

Aah,Thanks Norm,I recognise him now, particularly from "A Matter of Life and Death" with David Niven! I think I used to confuse him with James Robertson Justice, who had a similar voice, and appearance! (just read that J.R.J. died penniless!)

The very programme!, perhaps this vehicle wasn't one of the local bus companies, but a long distance coach from out of town.
Brother O., I shall be checking out the Pathe site in more depth when I can, many thanks .
