View Full Version : Could Raffa do it????????? Gnomie 06-09-2007, 08:01 PM Could Raffa do the Job at Everton that David Moyes has done. same money and treatment from the board that Moyes has had. would Raffa be able to do the job or stick with it? what do you think? TerryB 06-09-2007, 09:05 PM Well considering he's only spent 45 million NET since he's been here, and got us to 2, count them, 2 European Cup finals in that period, and built a squad that should be capable of putting in a decent title challenge, I'm sure he could just about manage Everton, massive job that it is like. Gnomie 06-09-2007, 09:20 PM he did that with money. could he do it without? simple question, no need to go defensive. A.D.W 06-09-2007, 09:38 PM Personally I doubt if young Beni could do as well with the Everton wallahs. I still do not think he understands the English game. With him being a Don I think he is more suited to the European game. sweetcheeks 06-09-2007, 09:40 PM How much money has David Moyes spent? I've no idea but I think Raffa could do a good job anywhere, I am biased though :) TerryB 06-09-2007, 09:45 PM Moyes has to get by on rations, poor old Everton. TerryB 06-09-2007, 09:53 PM still do not think he understands the English game. How do you work that out? We finished a point behind this seasons champions only last season with 82 points, a total that would have won the league not long ago. I'm sure he'd understand our league a lot more had the club got him his first choice quality targets instead of shopping around in the bargain basement. A.D.W 06-09-2007, 10:07 PM We finished a point behind this seasons champions only last season with 82 points, a total that would have won the league not long ago. Manchester United moved on and got 89 points this season. We moved backwards and got 68 points! Why? scouse mouse 06-09-2007, 10:16 PM To me the question is more a case of would Rafa do it rather than could he do it. Nothing to do with Everton btw, in fact I'm pretty sure that if Hicks and Gillett told Rafa that he had to survive on the Moysiah's budget I think Rafa would be off at the first chance. Not that I'd blame him mind, I'm sure promises were made when he went to Anfield. Footy is like everything else in life........you get what you pay for. Nice thread btw Gnomie, see we can all get along without the petty bitterness. Mind you I'm not sure if that will be the case later tonight when I post my thread in the Alehouse ........Should all Evertonians be rounded up and shot ?:) TerryB 06-09-2007, 10:22 PM Plenty of reasons. The main one being the form of Ronaldo for United, who finally found an end product to his undoubted world class ability and blew the rest away in the first part of the season. New signings needing time to settle in, along with some poor signings, which was not entirely Rafa's fault, IMO. Our best players, especially Gerrard and Alonso, under performing, mostly through fatigue after a long season and world cup. A bad arse opening fixture list, especially away from home, which we never quite recovered from. Once we got into our stride we found some good consistent form, like the previous season, but by then it was too late, and all thoughts were concentrated on Europe, which was almost another glorious chapter Obviously we need to improve in certain areas, especially away from home, but we're not far off. I'd love to know who else could have done a better job though on a similar budget? Gnomie 06-09-2007, 10:24 PM Fair play Scouse. can i have a quick bullet:unibrow: Just wondered if anyone would answer it as i asked , not go on the insult. very suprised and happy that many have, not suprised others have not. I think Raffa does a great job at Liverpool. i like him putting one over fergy and boreenio. i think he is a good boss as is moyes. I like the way raffa says Squid instead of Squad in interviews. TerryB 06-09-2007, 10:27 PM Can someone find out how much Moyes has spent since he's been in the job and who on? Ta. scouse mouse 06-09-2007, 11:11 PM Can someone find out how much Moyes has spent since he's been in the job and who on? Ta. Probably not as small amount as some would have us believe, I know he spent around 15,000,000 on Andy Johnson and Kevin Beattie. Gerard 06-10-2007, 12:37 AM I'm an Evertonian and Im not biased..I happen to Like Raffas style as a man and a manager..No big mouthing..just gets on with the job..And a pedigree as good as anyone..Yep..He'd do a great Job anywhere never mind at Everton. Gnomie 06-10-2007, 09:21 AM I'm sure he'd understand our league a lot more had the club got him his first choice quality targets instead of shopping around in the bargain basement. Moyes has to shop in the bargain basement and has produced some very good players. Raffa is shopping in a richer shop than moyes. you say he could understand the league a lot more if he was shopping in the very rich shop. could he do it in the moyes shop? My very good season ticket kopite friend tells me Raffa has spent over 100 million since joining the club. he thinks Raffa is making them stronger and i agree. i also think they are not far off a title challenge. Chelsea can buy buy buy, Man Utd have much better players than them. money does not always buy the best players. The question is could Raffa do it at Everton. yes or no? Could Fergie, Wenger or Boreenio do it? it would be a good test of their talents. or maybe their talents is working with money? i have to respect Fergie though. whatever i think of Man Utd he is a top boss. Moyes took on Deadwood and has cleared them out. Raffa took on Gerrard and Carragher so no need to sign anyone to replace them. and they would cost a bomb. MY GOD SOME OF THE NAMES ON THE ABOVE LIST  hangs head:ninja: Gnomie 06-10-2007, 09:52 AM Probably not as small amount as some would have us believe, I know he spent around 15,000,000 on Andy Johnson and Kevin Beattie. Most definately yes Tony..again.. Gerard 06-10-2007, 02:53 PM Kevin Beattie - He played for Chelsea when they were nothing, when they had no money that is???? so draw your own conclusions that money means nothing. Kevin Beattie.Did he play for Chelsea Ged..I thought Kevin Beattie played for Ipswich and done rather well..And he was a Great Player as well...If Everton had 2 Kevin Beattie's they would win the league.. I'd settle for 1 though. http://www.football-england.com/kevin_beattie.html Was there another Kevin Beattie..Honestly..I can only remember the Ipswich one. shank 06-11-2007, 12:48 AM If its true about the latest sighning Raff's after (Diego man utd Forlan)he may as well cross the park.we will be the laughing stock of both ends of the East Lancs rd one miniute its eto or Tevez and then the joker Forlan lets go the whole hog and go for Beattie
