Just wondered if there was any history to this georgian house,in Islington, near to the old Collegiate? It's being used for industrial purposes, but would look great if it was renovated, and put to another use! It looks a bit better than it did,a couple of years ago, when it was painted the colurs of the rainbow!!! :)

It was built about the early 1830s, and was a music academy.
The cast-iron balconies incorporate lyres in their design.

The small road to the left of the building in the first pic led to my college, S F X`S playground, wish I had a penny for everytime I`ve walked through there. I think it`s been a general contractors in its lifetime

I remember when it was a dentist.
I heard that it was originally some kind of childrens orphanage/school or something like that. Don't know how true that is.

The white building is part of the market.
Commutation Row is behind it.
The start of Islington is on the left.
Gibson's Folly was close by.
It was very tall for its age.
Islington was also known as Folly Lane.

Your right Robbo ,Next to the building was the Liverpool Society for the prevention of cruelty to Children which was run by the Liverpool City Police. It eventually became the first Dr Barnardos home in the country. It is now the yellow Fever vaccination centre. The house on the pic is a wood turning and cabinet makers owned by two great guys, I have a picture when it was the childrens home, as my computer is dodgy I will e-mail Mart to post up., not unless someone else has it ?
