Well done Gerad. Love the photo of Williamson Square in b/w. No people was it first thing in the morning?

Actually if you look carefully to the left of the fountain, you can see a bloke walking in the dark part. I don't know if the darker parts of the photo are a function of the light and the water, or if Gerard used a bit of photoey shoppy here. Eh, Gerard? :)

Picture taken chippie about 12 noon and the square was packed..

A little bit of Paint Shop doodling with lighting effects done the trick

Aye, there's at least three people in the pic, the bloke I thought I saw at the left and someone else (a lady?) behind a stream of water just behind him and a boy in the middle looks like with a red bag, on their way to or from the Liverpool FC store perhaps. :)

A view of St. Nicholas's Church. The old gas lamp in the foreground gives the impression of a bygone Liverpool of a century or more ago. However, the glimpse of the white tower of the Thistle Hotel on Chapel Street beyond the church is symbolic of the new Liverpool that is rising amid the remnants of the old.

Rule 4 sub section 3a.

Once you have posted a picture you must wait a whole day before posting another. For example, you post on a Tuesday, you can post your next picture on a Thursday, that gives everyone a chance.

If you dont mind me asking Kev why was my picture removed.
It was the 1st on today after Chris's was removed
I know that I said above remove it but I thought all this Sub this and section that and rule this that and the other was only a Joke..

Theres about 24 rules quoted here including pictures of people not being allowed..
You'd better take your June 1st POD off Kev if thats the case.
Whats going on if you dont mind me asking Kev.

Hi Gerard

To clarify, I removed your pic of Philip after you said to remove it. I very much like the photo you took of Phil but it had been posted before in another thread and so I think Philip's St. George's Hall photo should be the legitimate Pic of the Day posting for today. Okay?

I thought Chris all this rule quoting was a Joke and thats why I said remove it..
Rules about people not being allowed on POD...Kevs June 1st Piccie has people in so thats why I thought it was all a wind up.
If the rule says though that It cant be posted elsewhere and on POD then thats fine..
I was not aware of this Rule Chris..No probs Lad.

Hi Gerard

I refer you to the wording at the top of this page: "The aim is to capture and post 365 pictures of Liverpool and Merseyside throughout 2007." Thus the pic should be of a Liverpool or Merseyside location. It can have people in it but not be a photograph of a person or group of people as such. Okay, lad?

I was convinced Gerard posted the photo of me as a joke, which is why my subsequent posts were jokes (except for the pic of St George's Hall).
Frankly, I'd rather there weren't any pictures of me on any thread, because I'm no longer young and handsome like Gerard. :)

Me take this serious..yer avin a laugh aren't yer Lad.

By the way snappel..I dont go advising you about the dangers of nearly killing yourself and putting the lives of the emergency services at risk who would have to rescue you if you fell down a hole..or fell of a roof that you were dangling your legs over..
Or getting a Security guard the sack who has propably done his job all night and turned his back for 10 seconds and you then sneak up all these cranes or whatever..
Do I geg in and get my little digs in about that...No I dont.

So if you dont mind snappel..keep your opinions about me to yourself and stop trying to stir this up..Its not the 1st time you have had little sly digs at me..and I have not fell for it..And Kev is aware of this as well.
If I want your opinion..I'll ask for it...OK..

You're so unstable it's not even funny!

I was simply remarking that Phil was calmly making a point, in an effort to try and end the argument. You were misunderstanding what he was saying. And why didn't you PM all this to me? Why clog the thread up with this?

As far as advising me - at any time you're welcome to do it. However, the emergency services know the risks of the job, and if security guards did their jobs properly then perhaps things would be harder for me. As it happens, my brother runs a security company, and agrees it is impossible to secure a site completely. They will keep out 99.9% of people - all but the most determined and resourceful.

Any digs you have received you've earnt yourself. Kev is aware of everything that goes on on this forum, and when he's felt the need to he's contacted me. If he ever decides I'm not welcome here, I'm sure he'll ban me, in which case I'll take it like a man and not bother him/his forum further.

Until then, why don't we keep this thread to photographs? I'll be happy to discuss this further by PM if you wish.

Yes perhaps "shop" was a bit of hyperbole !! It was so funny I couldn't resist posting the photo. Of course the sign belonged to the Asian clothes shop next door who were taking advantage of the free advertising space. Smithdown Rd is rapidly becoming Liverpool's equivalent to Manchester's "curry mile", AKA Wilmslow Rd, Rusholme.

Has anyone been to the 'curry Mile ?' .. we would drive up there sometimes.
I used to like looking in the shop windows of the ladies Sari shops .. oohh the gorgeous beautiful Indian clothes - fab colours and embroidered with beads.
Lovely clothes and so comfortable to wear. I had a shalwa kameez hand made for me once by an Indian friend - lovely fabric to wear and hides all your lumps and bumps too :D

An interesting observation, Taffy. That would mean that Smithdown Road is becoming also equivalent to "Banglatown" a term given to the Brick Lane area of London's East End. :)

Yes I know it well. Have had a few curries there too. You should be able to get Asian clothing on Smithdown Rd these days, so less distance to travel.

An interesting observation, Taffy. That would mean that Smithdown Road is becoming also equivalent to "Banglatown" a term given to the Brick Lane area of London's East End. :)

Chris

It's getting there as is in the St Michael's part of Aigburth Rd. Smithdown Rd already benefits from a mosque just off either end and a Sikh temple just off the middle.

I've wanted to snap pics of those planes but after seeing all the signs they have there I was nervous about trying.

You should have gone on Sunday, Max.
I went because I assumed that you couldn't usually get round the back of the old building.

I managed to get up there on an invite ? from Colin the Jetstream photographer.
I had been up halfway though but thought it best not to push my luck.

PhilipG :-
You can get round the back anytime but park out the front and walk . Never had a problem yet and I go at least once a week.

ChrisGeorge.

I think Crowne Plaza as a company are a USofA company.
If this is true can you please inform them that the 'Union Flag' should be flown on the Middle of the three flag poles.
Unless common curtsy and diplomacy have gone out the window, where three flag poles are used the 'Host Country Flag' always flies in the middle.
The house/company flag should fly to the right of the Union Flag looking at the building.

Phredd runs away to put on a Flack Suit and await the incomming flack. :):):snf (41):

Hi Phredd

I don't know if the Crowne Plaza is run by a US company or not. We found it a well run hotel and enjoyed our stay there. The only thing that I was unhappy with was the "scouse" I had in the bar and which I found to be tough and no advert for the legendary Liverpudlian dish -- I complained and got a credit on the bill for that. I assume you are correct in what you say about how the flags should be flown and since Americans are punctilious about flag etiquette in terms of how "Old Glory" the Star-Spangled Banner is flown, if the outfit who own Crowne Plaza is American-owned, they ought to know about it and get it rectified. . . and even if they are not an American concern, they should do it right. I'll let 'em know. Thanks, Phredd. You may now come out from hiding. :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
