View Full Version : More proof Australia Is crazy

Civil liberties groups said homosexuals should be allowed to relax in places without fear of bullying or intimidation.
Australia's equal opportunity laws prevent discrimination based on race, religion or sexuality.
:rolleyes:Is this the only excuse they have to ban Heterosexuals from their pub? What about Heterosexuals being able to relax without fear of Intimidation from anyone, not just homosexuals?
Isn't It possible this place will be attacked for discrimination too?

If its the only gay bar out 2,000, it must be a very good bar.
How can they tell a person is gay or not though? Homosexuals don't all wear glitter and make up and mince like people think they do. Majority are every day people who don't stand out at all.
Be intresting to see how they carry it out. I can see a few angry Homosexuals being turned away.

Did you see Richard Fairbrass get lamped on the news?
Everyone has the right to be what they want to be, I've got gay friends and it doesn't bother me in the slightest as long as they don't force their preferences on me.
What I do object to is people going out in the street and proclaiming to the world that they're gay. Where's the need for it? I don't join a march saying that I'm hetrosexual so why should it be (for the want of a better phrase) rubbed in our faces at every opportunity? If you're gay, big wow.
What you do behind closed doors is your own affair, but don't push it on to the people that have no time for it.

It's needed to be done, because otherwise everyone will assume they're heterosexual.
As simple as that.

As simple as that.
But why? Everyone has the right to do what they want to do in life but behind closed doors - what effect would it have on you if you walked down the street and people thought you were hetrosexual?
I don't care whether people are gay/straight or australian but there's no need to bring it out on the streets - do what you want in your own house but unless you're having open sex on the streets, it doesn't matter a jot in public life.

"But why?"
It's nothing to do with walking down the street.
Wouldn't you like people to be honest with you?
As somebody else said, most gays don't look obvious, but feel more comfortable letting their family, friends and perhaps acquaintances know that they'd rather be accepted for what they are, and not feel uncomfortable when people presume that they're heterosexual.
(There's nothing wrong with being hetereosexual, most gays' parents are.)

Sure I understand that Philip - but some people including myself don't want to see blokes kissing in the streets and telling everyone that they're gay.
If that is your choice in life then I'm fine with that but there's a place for everything so why is being gay supposidly special? Tell your family friends and everyone else, but I've no interest whether you are gay or not as that won't change anything when I meet you in a future forum meet.
Perhaps I'm just old fashioned Philip but what goes in the bible goes for me. There are many places in the world that you can go, pubs and clubs, and scream till you're blue in the face about it, but for people that don't want that image and to be reminded of their practices, it should be kept in it's place and not be forced upon other people whether in the news or on the street. People have everyright to be what they want to be but not when other people are forced to listen about it. Hetrosexual's don't go parading around on the street saying they're hetrosexual, so I don't see why Gay people should.

Not at all Phil, I've a very good friend who is gay and I have no problems in being with him anywhere, because he is a person who is very private and has no reason to flaunt the fact that he's homosexual. I only wish other people could do the same.

You just want to spout your views, put words in my mouth, and not be prepared to listen.
I've lost count of the number of threads that start "I've a very good friend who is gay".
OK, he's told you, so even you're admitting that Gays can tell their friends, or are you?
And isn't that what I said?
Rather than what you think I said.
By the way, if you include a quote, you should leave it as it was, and not edit it to suit yourself.

I think you're missing the point Phil. Tell who you want, be who you want and do what you want, but there are people in life who find what you practice not to their taste and they shouldn't have to put up with it being in the news on the TV to see people parading down the road their sexuality - where's the big deal? You don't go up to everyone you meet and tell them like I don't tell everyone that I'm hetrosexual. So why the need to tell anyone apart from the partner you are with at the time?

If you go by what the bible says i hope you voice your anger at people who have sex before marriage, eat shellfish, say 'oh my god' or have commited adultery, all viable to a one way ticket to hell according to that corrupt piece of literature.

I was brought up reading the bible & I don't think people should pick & choose what parts of the bible suits them

if the world took any notice of the bible then perhaps half of us wouldn,t be alive today. The old testerment is full of war and battles and races being slain out of existance. Even by the "thing" you call god, it slew thousands of human beings. So on that count alone, war would avenge war all over the world. It is very sane not to be corrupted by such an evil phantom of of a human,s imagination.

I've changed my name due to some people on this forum that I have had trouble with, that's all. For every decent amount of good people on the forum like yourself Phil, you always get a couple of bad apples.
You can always tell by previous postings but I had informed a small number of people on the forum.
Thanks for announcing it to all and sundry through, my only option is to delete my account and start from new.

No problem, Jona.
What's the point in any regular poster changing their name on this forum?
Sooner, rather than later, people will recognise the style of the posts.
I soon recognised 'theninesisters', and knew I'd come across the person before.

I logged-on after being off-line for 3 days to find we had a new member called ninesisters .. I wondered why they had joined and then left so suddenly.

I personally think - why not live a life of debauchery and then demand the last rights and be exonerated of all my ill doing.
For the record, I had every type of sex this morning with my wife, brother and mother and am now off to kill someone. Please have a priest waiting for me.

If you 'resign' from the forum does it mean that your posts end up looking like ninesisters?
In terms of the original post, my advice would be to make such a place a 'members only' club and then you can admit whoever you want. On the other hand if you want to advertise your business you might consider conspicuously banning a particular group. The attendant free publicity probably won't do your business much harm, although there's always the danger of attracting a bigot with a nailbomb.
I think it's a sign of the times that a gay bar aimed at men who like men attracts straight women who think it's good fun to be around gay men. I feel sorry for the gay men. I also feel a bit sorry for straight women if the men they feel most comfortable with are gay.
Thwarted desire - it's a killer :PDT_Xtremez_12:

I'm rather tempted to say I feel sorry for anyone who feels that way.
Gay men don't want your sympathy (why should you feel sorry for them, anyway?), and why shouldn't women make friends with whoever they like?

Well, that's OK. I don't feel sorry for gay men because they are gay. If I were a gay man and I went to a bar to meet other men or on the pull, I would feel sorry for myself if I found a gaggle of half cut women having a hen party. A wasted evening.
Women/men can make friends with whomever they want as far as I'm concerned. If I were a straight woman, I would feel sorry for myself if the only time I felt chilled out in male company was in the company of gay men. It would take some of the fun out of being straight.
Also, just in case you didn't notice...

Not entirely?
I wonder what percentage?
But you still seem to be s l a gging off the company of Gays for straight women. Why should sexuality enter into social interaction?
Because it's the absence of sexuality that is the precise thing that enables, in your words, 'chilling out'.
(Mental note: I really must find time to read the very first post in this thread, because I've only responded to subsequent posts.)

In an ideal world, sexual preferance between consenting adults should not be a factor in social surrroundings. But unfortunatley to a lot of people, it does.
There is of course the gay bashers. People with the poor arguments of 'its not natural' or 'the bible says its wrong, so it is' and think this gives them the right to give abuse. These types of neandethal and gay people cannot co-exist in a bar or club.
But not all Gay people are 'nice' as straight women who hang round them think they are. Some gay men, just like some straight men, are lecherous and predatory and very in your face. Same with a minority of Lesbians. These types cannot mingle with straights in a club.
So you can see why a club is trying to cater for a certain group. But in my opinion, if a gay man and a straight man are good friends (i have 2 gay friends, there not together mind), why should they suffer not able to drink in a particular club together? As my gay friends say to the bouncers on the door 'hes my mate, he's ok' and then get let in, and using that method will be a lot less controversial and prevent alienating.

Very well said.
I was rather tempted to say "Some of my best friends are heterosexual", but I know how false it is when it's "Some of my best friends are Gay".
I enjoy going to gay and straight pubs with anybody, and getting slightly 'bevvied', and sex is the last thing on my mind.
