When growing up in Liverpool I remember a wind in the spring that would lift 'oil cloth" (linoleum) off the floor, rattle loose doors and windows and whistle down the chimney pots. Does anyone know what we called that wind? It may have been called a "mistral" but that word is used to describe a wind phenomina in the northern Mediteranean Sea. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just call it 'wind' :unibrow:

Or something stronger, if I'm trying to ride my bike into it
