As we head for more harsh wintry weather,I thought I would post some pictures of warm places. These shots were taken in Malta 16 years ago,
The first picture show the harbour at Marxalott, it is a picture perfect little place.
The second picture shows the bow of a djaso, see the eyes on the bow, they were meant to ward off the evil eye.
Picture N03 shows me at the wheel of a yardarm ketch as we sail around the islands.
No 4 shows sunset over the harbour between Sliema and Valetta, it was so relaxing to watch the sun go down as we had a cold drink.
No 5 show the yardarm ketch returning to the harbour at Sliema.
No 6 is a view of the grand harbour,it was here that the Royal Navy had a base for the Mediterranean fleet. The harbour suffered terribly in WW2 when it was bombed by both the Germans and Italians,it is amazing how the place looks, no signs of wreckage and devastation.

Hi John,
thanks for bringing back the sunshine site. After the freeze we have been having this past few days were about due for another sunny reminder.
Todays batch were taken in Northern Cyprus in the 90's, I was first there a couple of times before the Partition (1971) and ,after my 90's holiday, it would seem that the Turks have got the best bits.
The first picture is of the entrance to the harbour at Kyrenia, the ancient castle providing a wonderful back drop.
Next we have the ruins of the castle at Al Kantara, it is situated near the top of the Karpaz, that wonderful ,unspoilt, stretch coast that leads up to the very tip of Northern Cyprus.
Our next view is of the castle at St. Hilarion, story has it that Walt Disney based the castle in Snow White upon it,the views from the top are quite spectacular.
And then we have the harbour at Famagusta, quite the most beautiful place on the island, frozen in time because the ownership is disputed between the Greeks and the Turks.
The last picture is of the Karpaz and the northern most tip of the island. For those of you who like solitude this is the place,it stretches 35 km and we met just one fisherman and UPS deliveryman. I must go back someday,
