The scene is little changed today – although the boat house has been replaced by an impressive modern cafeŽ.I need a clothing expert to date these three photographs. I'd say you more or less have the date yourself,you couldput circular (1890/1900)

The bowler hat was first made in the UK in 1849.

The park was opened on may 20th 1872

The coldest winters fell on December 1878, and January 1879.

Great pics Colin.

The middle photo looks like a Lowry painting and is that Charlie Chaplin in the last pic? ;)

Deffo middle to upper class if you can afford proper ice skates like the lad in the last pic.

Even if it were cold enough now to venture on to the lake, I'm thinking it's doubtful whether it would get past that Elfin Safety lot...
