disappeared,they knocked down Venice Street School this year.:(

Won't be long now till I'm a thing of the past. :)

No it was a mixed infants up till a few years ago.

Google steet view...Schools like this were built to last...this would have stood another 100 years of time...Ihad me first ever fight in the school yard :)it was actually a boarding school

I got a pic of it in the summer when doing all the V streets. Pity, it looked an ornate and nice building.

Funny thing is,Gedit was on the same achitecture as StGeorges CofE at the back of the new infants prefab school,which this also got knocked down when the slum clearence came about.

For thelife of me couldn't understand why they knocked it down and thenbuild a prefabricated school on the main road?

The opening gates to StGeorges was where the prefab school is now and the school yard was huge and the school coincide with the back end of StGeorges church.

Sorry to hear that, George. My school, the Morrison Secondary School on Rose Lane, was knocked down years ago to build a Tesco's. Sad to see the old buildings go. Great photographs to remember the school, George and Ged. Thanks.
