Hi

I am a local poet and I have designed and created (well almost) some Liverpool themed, poetry greetings cards.

This is the site where I intend to promote the cards. It's in its early stages at the moment. (Ignore the image of Resurgent on there at the moment as I don't have permission to use it. I believe it belongs to Dave Woods of liverpoolpictorial.co.uk but I have had no response to the e-mails I have sent to him about using the image.)

http://www.liverpoolpoems.co.uk

I have very kindly been offered the use of some wonderful photographs by some local photographers but I still need to find one of "Liverpool Resurgent".

Because it's for commercial use, I can't just take any image off the net and would need the permission of the copyright holder to use the image.

I have no idea if my idea is going to make any money, so I can't pay you at this stage but I can offer you full credit on the reverse of the card for use of your image. I'll also send you some free cards! :)

If you have a good, high resolution photo of this statue and you own the copyright to it, can you please contact me ASAP at liverpool_poet@yahoo.co.uk as I need to get some samples printed up soon so I can get my project off the ground.

Hello Justine.
Welcome to the forum.

Why can't you take a photo yourself, or get a friend to take one for you?
Then you won't need to worry about copyright.

Hi Justine

Nice to meet a fellow poet. You can PM Dave Wood through this site about getting permission to use the Dickie Lewis image. He is scouserdave (http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/member.php?u=431) here. Good luck.

Hi Justine

I also like the Liverpool wit and spirit expressed in the Otterspool poem. The photo goes well with it too and reminds me of a colour slide I took years ago about the same time in the evening and later did a painting of the mudbanks and the river and the bouys with the sun descending.

thank you for the replies so far and the nice comments :)

Philip, if I knew how to get a good shot of it and I had a half decent camera, then I would ;)

There are a number of photographers on Yo who might take up the challenge, (he saids dropping a big hint for you, Justine :) )

Maybe post the challenge on the Challenge/Contests board as well.

you guys are far too kind!

Funny though, I wonder what the future holds for poor Dickie now that Lewis's is closing down, anyone know?

They might remove him (like they did with Peter Pan) until the building has new owners. You never know, this might be your last chance, yikes!

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate your help, you can always rely on a scouser! ;)

It looks like the challenge has been accepted. :handclap:
Unfortunately, the zoom on my camera is only 3x.

(Which is why I'm dropping heavy hints on another thread) :)

Man parts have to be censored.

I don't understand why woman chests are censored but man chests are never censored either.

There'd be a leaf on that statue If It was a woman.

Thanks John. I might get into this photo lark, seems like fun! :)

Kev, I've been meaning to ask you, where were you when you took that photo of the Liver Bird?

On a more sombre note, doesn't it look like those cable ties are piercing it thru the heart? I kind of find that quite sad. I never realised how it was anchored til I saw your photo. The detail is incredible.
