Hi,

My family are originally from Liverpool and moved away because of my dad's job in 1980. My mum and dad would love to find some photos of Liverpool in the 1950s and 60s in particular. My mum lived in Annersley Road and my dad in Erith Street (L8 and L17 apparently but not sure which way around that would be as I moved away when I was seven!) My dad worked on the docks as a blacksmith in his youth. I have been searching online a bit randomly for photos of this era and any mentions or pictures of the streets that they lived in but haven't come up with much.

Can anyone recommend sites or publications that might have photos/information of this era and places? I think my dad would love to see pictures of the docks from when he worked there. I saw a few mentions of a book called Ainscough's Liverpool: The Photographs of Harry Ainscough but couldn't see any write ups of what it covers. Does anybody know it and would it be worth me buying?

Thank you.

This is a good place to begin...(there will be plenty of other places pointed out, no doubt shortly)

Thank you Oudeis.

marypoppins, there are about 100 carefully selected photos of Liverpool in Harry's book but he took literally hundreds of photos and quite a few of them (that are now lodged with the Liverpool records office) are on my site that was mentioned above. There is also a links page on my site that will direct you to dozens of other worthwhile sites too, oh and a page especially about the docks.

Cheers,

Ged.

Thanks very much for your help Ged and Oudeis. Your site looks great Ged, I think my mum and dad will really enjoy looking through the photos and their memories of different places.

Much appreciated. Thank you both again.
