Did anyone see Shopping for England (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/shopping-england.shtml) tonight on BBC4. Part of the Edwardian season. It was mostly about Selfridges but there was a large part devoted to the story of Woolworths (http://museum.woolworths.co.uk/) and how the first English store was opened in Liverpool.

Mike Royden (http://www.btinternet.com/~m.royden/mrlhp/index.html) was on it as well.

Worth watching one of the repeats if you get the chance and are interested in Liverpool history. Times are on BBC website.
