Liverpool's channel is expected to hit small screens later this year
Liverpool Football Club has confirmed it is planning to launch a TV channel in the UK.
The club already has a three-hour show which is shown in 47 other countries outside Britain.

Rival teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United already have their own channels broadcasting in the UK.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry said: "We are very excited. It could be a great addition to the coverage we provide for our supporters."

Rogan Taylor, lecturer in Football Management at Liverpool University, said he was not surprised by the news.

"The key word is convergence. Liverpool's website has been called liverpoolfc.tv since it began. We talk about TV and online as if they were two different things," he said.

However, he also warned that running a television channel was very expensive and clubs were restricted by rights issues as to what live football they could show.

The club said negotiations were still in the very early stages, but added that the channel was expected to reach UK screens later this year.

I've seen the show a number of times here in the U.S. on GOL TV. Nice show.
