This website has some of my favourite images of the Liverpool of yesteryear. It also provides a link to the Chambré Hardman archive.

Apologies if it has already been posted.

Even though it has so few pictures there are some real classics.

Chambré Hardman's picture of an empty south docks - you get a sense of impending doom to a way of life. His picture of barges on the L&L canal however reveal no sense of how it is currently.

I also like the picture of a crowded Albert Dock.

Some interesting pictures of the Toxteth Riots. One of the pictures has handwriting on the bottom describing how the people around the Lodge Lane area were abandoned by the police and fire service during the disturbances. Unexpectedly and powerfully political.

Ta for the praise. Much appreciated.

You should know that the site has since moved- and grown considerably! (still tons of stuff to add though)...

Cheers mate. Yes, seem to have got second wind recently and adding new stuff as and when I get the time. Still thigh-deep in things waiting to go on either the Chester site or on Yo though...

I'm trying to get my hands on a scanner that'll do larger negs as the best stuff is on neg and I can't print them anymore- booted out of my darkroom by growing teenagers, sadly.

Watch this space..
