It's a good subject, Gnomie, but curious about when a bridge becomes a tunnel. :)

You can go right through Garston (via St Mary's Road) without going under a bridge.

Not even that if you go in the other way along Banks Rd,by the former fire station. ;) [just in case you have a phobia about going under bridges... lol.]

When I was a kid we used to run through that tunnel making a lot of noise because it had weird acoustics. Going from the park there used to be a public toilet on the right just before you went in, the stink was awful even when you just went past. There used to be bowling greens there too, I noticed when I visited last year that they had gone, There is a picture on here somewhere of the windmill that stood by the lake when I was a kid too, I can't remember which thread it was in.

No, the track above is still in use. It's the freight line from Edge Hill to Seaforth.
