Well it's been a cracking saturday afternoon, road is quiet as everyone is crammed around their TV's watching 22 men chase a bag of wind :PDT10
so I thought I'd be nice to ma and detail her car for her seeing as I'm always washing me own and spending too much time on it.

Max - you don't need a gym, you just need to give a 13 year old Corsa 3 layers of wax and it'll do you the power of good!!

My pic...I'm very happy with the finish. It's a 1993 L Reg so the paint work you're seeing there is 14 years old :PDT11

What else have you all been up to?

Gym Tots with the kids, went to look at the Cressington Heath housing development off Garston By-Pass. Then Warrington Toys-R-Us, Hobby Craft, Mothercare World, my sisters, then home.

Fed up at the moment, may go the gym later. :disgust:

Hehe, how long did he wait before someone told him?

I wasted an afternoon trying to adjust my bike's gears, to go out for a ride tomorrow for the first time since before Christmas when I was knocked off. Only minor injuries and damage, but you know how insurers drag their feet... :Smiliz_Kingz_PDT_13

Anyway - got my bike back last week, tried to get it in full working order for a long ride tomorrow but it's not to be :disgust: . Back to the bike shop again for more fixing.

I got a Savaway for the train (the other half has a bus pass with her being a semi invalid) and went to Southport. It was nice and warm on Lord Street but then we went on the pier and that wind was brisk to say the least!. I could just make out the Big One and the Tower at Blackpool with my binoculars.A quick cuppa at the end of the pier and then back to Lord Street to buy a metric ton of Jelly Babies and choc.coated Raisins but I did resist the offer of a man bag from the Rohan Shop for my camera, binoculars, PDA and other essentials that I carry around.

I just went to gym and night pics.(didn't feel at my best though as my lungs were sore due to having a sore throat and cold:PDT_Xtremez_42: )

Today, I will be going to Tasker Sports In Anfield since I need longer hand wraps for boxing since the other ones are too short. Need longer hand wraps because theres too much space Inside my gloves despite hand size and they don't keep still when hitting bags.

Plus my left wrist Is still sore and was hard to throw a left hook.

Might take pics too.

Pah, in my youth, we used to get a good meal at about 6pm, nip down to Cream, spend ALL night dancing away (with the only substance being Lucozade and ale - not mixed LOL) and still made it in time to a cafe off Dale Street for morning brekkie :PDT_Aliboronz_24: :)

We had a good nose around :)

My husband showed me where he'd lived, the church where he was christened (St Michaels). We saw the remains of where Atlas express used to be (where his dad worked).
Saw where the Bobbins used to be. Also he pointed out the newsagents where he used to have a paper round ! :)
We drove around all of it : Window lane, Banks rd, St Marys rd, then up and around some of the side streets and came out by the hospital.
I've certainly had a good look at Garston today.
My husband was telling me what a great community it was and thriving in those days. You can still see in those streets what a nice community it must have been and of course still must be.
I can see why Garstonians love their area. :PDT11

Last time I went to the zoo we bought a family ticket from Aigburth station which included train, bus fare and entrance to the zoo.It was quite a saving as the people in front of us paid more just to get in

Today I had half an hour in the green gym (our garden) where I turned over the compost heap and transferred the finished compost into our old black dust bin which is now full. I aggravated my frozen shoulder so had to have a lie down( :) ) I think it is recovered enough to be able to lift a beer soon.

I am working and I am preparing the visit of my sister and her daughters to my city. They only are going to be 5 days. I am a bit classic and a girl, so I have prepared an a bit strange visit for them.

My idea is to visit a few villages and a museum of the railroad in a former train of steam. My grandfather and his brothers were railway, and I like the ancient trains: Link (http://www.euskotren.es/castellano/transporte/15.html)
http://www.diariodelviajero.com/images/transcantabrico.jpg
To visit San Sebastian's aquarium. Alone I know that of Barcelona and that of Tregastel, in France. And sincerely, I am afraid to have the sharks so nearby!! Link (http://www.aquariumss.com/en/index.htm)
http://www.amyruppel.com/Spain/images/ss_AQJacobotunnel.jpg
To visit the Museum Guggenheim, the special visit for families with children, this way I will learn on it, for which I do not know the modern art. Until a few days did not happen looking at the Museum, I did not verify that it was imitating to a ship stopped close to the Nervión:Link (http://www.guggenheim-bilbao.es/ingles/home.htm)
http://dogfightatbankstown.typepad.com/blog/guggenheim_bilbao-thumb.jpg
Together with it laugh, there is also a very important Maritime Museum. The better thing of this one, it is to cross in a old ship, feeling a real pirate. Not included rum!! Link (http://www.museomaritimobilbao.org/#)
http://imagenvasca.info/0306/facetas0306-1.jpg
Another moment, iremos to Cabarceno's Park, a park with wild animals. It is in Santander, not in Basque Country, but you are late 20 minutes in coming: Link (http://www.parquedecabarceno.com/)

I've trying to locate the source of a leak which has left two large stains on the ceiling and getting larger :PDT_Xtremez_42:.

The connecting pipe to the toilet (the one that supplies the clean water to fill the cistern) seems to have the leak, no matter how I tighten it it seems to get worse. I presume its a washer or something.

Anyways, the floor is now soaked through so that'll have to come up on the morrow :disgust:

Went to New Brighton this afternoon.
Fab weather - lovely and warm - 70.

Everyone walking in sleeveless tops and kids paddling in their shorts ...

.... and then .. something strange happened .... a cold fog suddenly descended - and I mean suddenly ! this cold swirling fog came rolling over the Mersey. it was blowing around the prom and road like thick smoke. it was weird. I could understand if it was a damp day or a wintery day - but it had been so hot.
You can see on these photos people scurrying in the sudden drop in temperature. A lot of people were hurrying back to their cars as the fog was so chilly.

You couldn't see perch Rock at all, it was obliterated. Harrison drive was also like a pea souper.

I've never come across this before. Not hot one minute and freezing literally in a second !! We didn't even see it coming.

I went to Woolton to see how the restoration of the Picture House is coming on.
Wondering if the brickwork is going to be cleaned, but everything has just been painted matt black.

There's a new head on the former Elephant pub, but it's not an Elephant's head.

Then to Prescot to snap the 2 old cinema buildings there.
Saturday afternoon and Prescot was dead.
Some very pretty flower displays on the main road (Loads of different coloured tulips).

I wonder why they haven't put the Elephant head back up yet.

Every time I;ve gone down to Woolton It's still not there.

Could they be battling to keep It off the building because It would ruin there Marries Of The Crocodile name?

It looks like the story of it getting thrown away was true, and they've got away with doing it to a Listed Building.
Why would they want an elephant's head on a pub that is no longer called the Elephant?

Hi Philip

I enjoyed your flower pics. Thanks. So what head do they have on the former Elephant pub if it's not an elephant's head? I agree that they've pulled a fast one if they just got rid of the elephant's head and did not intend to put it back like they said they would.

Casa Del Cocidrillo= The Place Of Evil.

They couold of used the Bambino Elephante name on the famous Elephant though Instead of the Fargo one.

I don't know that they ever said they were going to put it back.
That was just wishful thinking on our part.
They've painted the Masonic in Lark Lane black, and obviously aren't interested in the history of the pubs they take over.

I'll take a snap of the head on the former Elephant.
I didn't study it closely - it's modern and not very big and probably of a crocodile as that's what the new name means.

I'm very depressed today about English Heritage and Liverpool City Council, after hearing the news that the Bedford Cinema isn't going to get Listed.

Today after a 4-month lay-off I've been out on my bike again! I was all set to carry on going for rides through the winter but 2 weeks before Christmas some pillock taxi driver knocked me off on my way home from work. No major injuries or damage to my bike but it's taken his insurers a helluva long time to get themselves into action and pay for the repairs (I couldn't afford them straight off). Finally got my bike back on Thursday so went for a ride to Llangollen and back today. What a great day to be out. Could do with an ice cold lager now though :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Got the bike out to cycle from Childwall up to West Derby to take some close ups of Sandfield Tower with the new camera, but ended up not being arsed so I thought a diversion was called for!

Firstly up to Thomas Lane, my exit was called for:

Then up in to Thingwall (A lovely forgotten village) to take some pics of St John's:

2884
2885

The up to the Squire of Knotty Ash's house!! By Jove Missus!

2886

Along to the signpost by what was once Thingwall House. Couldn't get in to it at all with the bike - has it all gone now?

2888
2889
2890
2891
2892

Cycled back to the loop line, pic of the bridge for my exit:

But carried on to take a shot of the trees before returning home!

We have been fretting all day about our new family. The semi wild cat, we thought she belonged to the people behind us, had kittens ten days ago. We have been feeding her every morning for the last 6 months. Yesterday she brought them around for us to see.
They are in an insulated kennel that we fitted out for our cats originally but they ignored it.

Unfortunately, there are so many stray cats in Liverpool now - more than ever. I don't know how the problem got so out of hand. There are ferals all over the city and of course they are breeding.
So many stray domestic cats too. It's a shame. I think that often, cats get a raw deal in life.

There are too few people who will put themselves out to look after strays.

Hope the kittens do well Billo. :)

So I'll start the mini tour:

The windows on Waterloo Street:

Then along to Somerfield - that lamppost needs to go!

Along to the Clock Tower:

Then up to the stone in the playground that used to be Wavertree Lake.

2956
2957

Up to the Monk's Well next:

2958
2959

Back towards the lock up:

2960
2961

Then along to see the two sets of horse shoe's in the wall on Childwall Road - sLemon once said that if you see a face when you look at them, you die!

2962

And all this without bumping in to Max, Marie OR stopping off for a quick snifter in one of the ale houses :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

This morning, I walked down to MariaC's house and she made me a lovely breakfast. The full Monty. XXX
Then at 1 p.m. I met up with Marie, Jona and Max in the 5-ways pub. I spent two hours in the most excellent company you could hope for. I have already met Marie before and she is an absolute delight to have a natter with.
What a great friend with a marvellous sense of humour.
As a bonus, I made two new mates, Max and Jona. I have chatted with them before but it's great to put faces to names. There was no lull in the conversation and we had a really good laugh.

They are real assets to Yo Liverpool and it was my priviledge and pleasure to spend some time with them.

It has been a wet miserable sort of day but was really brightened up by meeting four of our members.

Thanks

I'll second that Squire! Steven was boozing himself silly in the pub while I was waiting outside for Marie. A lovely and polite young lady turned up and said hello so I knew it had to be her!
Went in and met Steven - what a gent! Full of life and had many stories to tell!
Then in strolls max - he's a tall chap I tell you! A very decent chap is Max, quiet and very friendly!

We had good banter this afternoon and hope to all meet up again soon! Marie's english is good and we have given her lots to confuse her with in our sayings! A pleasant afternoon in great company :PDT11:PDT_Aliboronz_24:

It was a good afternoon Ged with a lot of laughs. Especially when Marie was explaining to some Elderley Scouser, how to take a picture of us. Results will follow later. Let's hope that you will be able to join us and have a big meet up.
I am telling you that the 'tears of happiness will trickle down yer leg' when you listen to Jona. He is so funny and knowledgeable.

Hehe I surprised myself with knowing too many names for too many pubs in Wavertree...I don't even drink either :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

Steven, you have a cracking story for every part of the world! You could sell tickets and talk for hours, I'd buy one!!
