The crane fell toppled over on Wavertree Boulevard and trapped the man under the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Merseyside Police are examining the site by the Wavertree Technology Park, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is investigating.

The man, who died on Thursday, is the third to be killed by a crane in Merseyside since the start of the year.

I have a feeling it was a mobile crane rather than a tower crane, but even so it's pretty grim. The BBC says that's the third person killed by a falling crane in Merseyside since the start of the year - I thought this was the second?

Blimy, our side of the Tech Park was police free but I'm quite sure it's the other end where they are doing lots of building work for this new business park link from Edge Lane.

This article (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=site-worker-killed-as-spate-of-crane-accidents-goes-on%26method=full%26objectid=18832256%26siteid=5006 1-name_page.html) has more info. It happened in the grounds of SHS International.

It's the 2nd death from a crane collapse this year but there was a 3rd death when a girder fell from a crane.
