Howdy peeps, This is just a little rant from me at the Echo, it was the front page and page three, about some councillor from Elsmere Port opening a pole dancing bar. I have no problem with pole dancing bars, or who owns them. But this was a blatent advert, some palm greased, free tickets, springs to mind. Sometimes a group I am involved with try to get some coverage in the Echo, with little success 9 times out of ten!! I think I'll only use the Echo for one thing from now on!!!

Wrapping my chips in!!!!:unibrow:

Hi Verdi, here's another (http://www.yoliverpool.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3883) thread.....

The Echo resembles Heat magazine at times....

I like the way the echo ims to close down the 'immoral establishments' then advertises escort agencies.

Why are they immoral anyway? Only religion says so. If blokes want to waste their money like it, let them!

I wouldn't p*ss on an Echo if it was on fire. The numerous times I've asked for each of my websites to be given some space in the Echo - things that have taken 100,000 hits between em all and are part of our history.

Did they want to know? Did they my :finger:

Stuff em Jona, sounds like you've drummed up enough publicity off your own bat. You'd think though that the Echo in conjunction with the Culture Co would do a suppliment or centre spread highlighting all the fantastic individual websites like you own, Dave's, Snappel's, Scottie press etc - there's loads too like Kirkdale on line, Dingle Renaissance, Wavertree Historic society, Gateacre...

Yeah, they should. Good idea Ged.

The Echo should feature local peoples' web-sites and promote their stuff.

It just seemed to me they were trying to make a big thing about a councilor being involved in a lap dance club.
It made me laugh when her employer basically said they didn't care.

The numerous times I've asked for each of my websites to be given some space in the Echo

I'm baffled why you think they should?
It’s hardly news if a local man creates a website.
However, it wouldn't be bad thing to occasionally list websites near relevent stories.
Some would be suited near the brief English Heritage building section.

All in all I don't mind the Echo. I don't expect every page of a paper to entertain me (I've no interest in any sport) but I think it does the job.
I only buy it 3-4 times a week, and that's more than any morning paper (maybe twice a week) but that could be because I get lots of news off the net.

The Echo is the only newspaper I read. I read it 'cos I'm nosy and want to know all the local goings on :D
