View Full Version : YOUR HELP AND SUGGESTIONS

Kev

I'm going to take this Liverpool Past section out from its current location and create a separate area for it with different categories, for example:

Liverpool Past

Housing
Transport
Work
Wars
Leisure

plus others.

Any suggestions or ideas? Get them in fast as I'm itching to get going

How about 'The Shooting Gallery' where people can post and wait for others to shoot them down in flames. :064: :008:

Sits back, hook baited and waits for a bite :unibrow:

It must be hard to decide if things like churches, schools, cinemas, etc., should go in "Urban Evironment" or "Liverpool Past".

If the thread I want isn't in "New Posts", I do a search which usually brings up what I want, and sometimes I don't notice what the main heading of that section is.

I'll go along with Kev with whatever he does.

Here's a few:
Folklore/Traditions
Cemeteries
Genealogy (perhaps Cemeteries should be included in this category?)
Maritime (or include in Transport?)
Maps

I know this is not really for this thread, but it's just a question I want to ask. I know this is a Liverpool forum, but I'm from Bootle and therefore officially sefton. What sections would anyone post stuff relating to the sefton area, or isn't there any ? It's not that important because I don't start threads much lol

Kev, this joke is a little dated:unibrow:

This shy feller lives next door to a girl that he really fancies. He keeps plucking up the courage to speak to her when he sees her over the wall, going to the toilet in the backyard.

He asks his mate for advice. "It's dead easy mate. Next time she goes out in the backyard to the toilet, just say hello to her. She'll say hello back to you. Ask her how she is. She'll reply back. Make a comment on the weather. She'll reply back. Simple as that. You've now got her chatting. Just say what comes natural.

The shy feller waits for her to go in the backyard. Out she comes..."Hello" says the feller over the wall "Oh, hello" says the girl. "How are you?" says the feller. "I'm fine thanks" says the girl. "Luvly weather today" says the feller. "Yes it's nice and sunny" says the girl.

"Are you going for a crap?" says the feller!

I spent 20 mins typing out a yarn. Only to find that I had to log in again and it was lost. I tried your suggestion about deleting cookies Kev. I dont seem to be able to stay on here for more than 10 15 mins.

you could move all the threads there that are getting out of hand.

We've got Tv and movies, which attract reviews and crits. What about books?
could we have a Literary section to review the latest release?

I know this isn't to do with the original thread but...

I really like this feature I saw on another vbulletin forum (http://gamershood.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4184&page=4)

Any chance of getting it on Yo!

Its where you have to click to see the hidden message. Very useful for spoilers.

Kev, Steven, Scouserdave, I,m very surprised that there isn,t a thread for jokes, but we still manage to get them in like,
there was this woman looking into the butchers shop window pulling funny faces. She went in and said to the butcher, is that a sheeps head in the window? To which the butcher replied, No luv, it,s a mirror.

More Scouse humour please, I,m a manic depressant.:unibrow:

First of all, I'd like to say a BIG "thank you" to whomever created this wonderful forum - I absolutely love it here! :) The range of topics is amazing and I think it will take me weeks to read them all. The people on here are just as amazing, too. :)

Being a newbie, maybe I shouldn't complain but here are a few things I noticed on the day of registering:

1. When I posted my first thread, I received a message informing me that my thread had been posted but that it wouldn't be displayed until it had been approved by an administrator. This quite surprised me - I'm a member of several other forums and nowhere does a newly posted thread have to wait for an administrator's approval! I think this makes the process of starting a new thread slightly tedious and actually might keep some people from starting threads. If a thread violates any rules, it could simply be deleted after it's been posted.

2. It took me three attempts before starting my first thread was successful. You've seen my post, it's a bit long, and after typing it in for the first time, I couldn't post it, as I received a message that I wasn't logged in. Unfortunately, I hadn't expected any problems and therefore hadn't copied my text, so I had to log in and type the whole thing again, copying it this time round. Again, the same problem as before. I logged in again and pasted the copied text and then I managed to post it. It seems that it isn't possible to type in long messages when you're starting a new thread. Maybe someone could look into this.

3. I was looking for a few smilies and found them missing, namely a laughing one and a thumbs up one. Maybe they could be added, perhaps someone else misses them as well.

Hope you don't mind these comments, they are in no way meant as criticism but maybe as a few little suggestions. As I said, this place is GREAT! (thumbs up missing...LOL)

Re: First posts.

The spam filter detects when a spammer is posting links to unwanted sites, a particular concern for me is the posting of adult material, as we do have members of all ages.

It also doesn't look good if we log on and are greeted by spam offering fake Rolex's, Nike trainers, Nokia phones, various drug that improve sex lives etc.

Re: Smiles.

There are hundreds of smilies that are available, when replying to a message at the bottom of the available smilies is a link that says 'more'. Click on that.

Thank you so much for your quick reply! :)

With regard to the first posts, I understand... I've seen on another forum what a pest these spam posts can be.

As for the smilies, I did look under "More" but didn't see the two I've mentioned. I'll have another look. :)
