A Conservative councillor is breaking the stereotype of the Tory "blue rinse brigade" by running a lapdancing bar.
By day, 25-year-old Kimberley Anderson helps residents in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, to resolve issues such as nuisance youths and broken kerb stones.
By night, she is manager of Liverpool's newly-opened Privilege club, where a fully naked lapdance costs £5.
Miss Anderson, who was voted onto the Sutton ward of Ellesmere Port and Neston Council last May, says there is no clash between her job and her politics.
She said: "There may be some people who don't like the idea of what I do, but nobody has ever expressed any concerns to me.
"In fact, a dancer friend of mine helped me to deliver leaflets when I was canvassing last year, and she proved very popular indeed."
She continued: "I've had a few jokey comments from the Labour councillors, but nothing serious at all.
"If people do object, then I respect their right to an opinion, but I'd encourage them to find out more about what we do.
"The club I run is not at all sleazy or seedy. The dances take place in a private area and only pole dancing goes on in the main bar area, which means anyone can come along and enjoy the show and they won't even see any nudity unless they want to."
Miss Anderson, whose mother is a Justice of the Peace and her father a Tory councillor, is a qualified licensee and also a registered bouncer.
Asked what Margaret Thatcher would think of her career, she replied: "I think she would like it. I think she would see me as a young woman who is working hard, in a job I enjoy, and looking to put something back into society through politics."
