Anyone remember the mod fashion ( at least in Speke) of the mid sixties. Ben shermans. comos shoes, surfer jackets, and trousers with inch turnups on them. Although some shoe shops advertise como shoes they are not the originals Havent seen those shoes in years. Anyone any pitures of comos?

I wore them for a few years. Saxones had the proper ones for about five quid or you could buy those cheaper ones but they were crap because they turned up at the end after a week. I always preferred oxblood. Saxones used to sell really nice slip-ons at the same time, sort of like golf shoes but not as heavy and they were called Bass Weejuns. I liked them so much I spent years trying to find them again and it was only when got on the net I found a supplier in America and managed to get hold of a pair. Still think they're dead smart with the right kecks. Google a picture and you'll probably remember them.

Did you used to put Blakey's in the heels to make them make a noise when you walked - or was that just Garston?

Oxblood comos, mohair suit on tic from Jacksons, ten fags plus a quid and Liverpool was your oyster in 1966.

Gerrard,
The como shoes I remember are flatter in the seam around the shoe with a leather sole and lower at the ankle

My sisters boyfriend came to ours (1st date) I was about 7 at the time, and the 1st thing i noticed were his como's,i fell in love with him.........and asked if i could polish his shoes !!!!!!!!!
My sister battered me when she came home for making a show of her,:disgust:
By the way,we were an all female household,so he was quite a novelty to me,

Ox blood comos, two tone pants, blazer, 5 park drive, and a ride around Sefton Park on my "Lammy" with my Judy on the back, I was in cloud nine. Head home to play some Tamla Motown on the Dansette. Roll on 1970. Simple pleasures, no drugs or drink, beat that kids of today.

Jes` I feel old.

I remember the como shoes but I always wore Nebraska shoes which I bought
from the Stirling Shoe Company in Lime St. This is me taken by the missus
in Stanley Park wearing them and my casual gear from Brass & Jackson the
tailors on Norton St. I think the year was 1959. Evertons old floodlights can be seen in the background.

....and the side of the old Goodison Rd stand and the back of the old Park End stand (called Goodison Ave then).

The tallest floodlight pylons in the country - boy they were tall.
