I just read the link.

copy & pasted part of it - 'cos it's exactly what I was trying to say when we had a discussion here about new buildings in Liverpool. -

“The ideas behind 21C aren’t based on some misguided desire to see skyscrapers everywhere and heritage shunned. It is about thinking big and demanding nothing less than the best we can achieve for Liverpool, surpassing the achievements of the past ''

.. that's exactly what I said - it's not at all about disregarding our beautiful old buildings, and why shouldn't we have the best for our vibrant city ?? - think big and demand to be up there with the rest of the worlds stunning cities. We are already a gorgeous city and we can be even more gorgeous !

next bit -

“It’s about stimulating a new sense of purpose for the city and bridge the gaps and cracks in the urban fabric. It would be great to see new architecture and old strike some kind of new balance, Art Deco revisited perhaps''

Yes !
