I'm currently involved in the 'Coming of Age' Project in Liverpool schools, where artists from The Tate are going into local schools, producing artwork to be displayed around Liverpool as part of the 800 birthday celebrations.

Talking to the artist today highlighted how much of a sense of pride our children have in their city compared to those in Manchester.

Our children in our city can name with interest major landmarks around the city, the Cathedrals, Sefton Park and so on and so on.

In Manchester however, its a different story. According to the Tate artist, the local Manchunian kids could only name famous shopping areas, thats all.

What would you consider Landmarks in Liverpool?

I'll put my hand up first and go for the cathedrals as an obvious starter.

When I lived in Southport in the 1960s, I'd get the train to Exchange Station and then look for St John's Tower to guide me to where the best pubs were! :PDT_Aliboronz_24:
That was certainly a landmark for me, until I got to know my way around.
