been having a terrible time with the computer :angry:
Went to log-in a couple of days ago and couldn't access our own account ! the computer just would not accept our password. :shock:
To cut a long story short - - we managed access via 'safe mode' but we found all our files, favourites and docs gone. We could access our e-mail and inter-net but nothing we'd had saved existed any more :eek:
After 2 days of hassle, we found out what the problem seems to be; ie, a horrendous bug in Vista !! - which renames your user account profile as a backup then creates a new account with the same name but empty with nothing in it !!
My husband and son spent a long time Googling for advice and eventually succeeded in finding a way to fix things - we can now access our computer again but have lost all our old files and saved favourites :PDT_Xtremez_12: ( well, it's just one of those annoying things - they're gone and that's the end of it).
Thankfully nothing crucial has been lost - just annoyed that we lost a few pics and some short vids my son had done with his mobile phone ( a few from hols and some of our dog). Can't be replaced, but no use crying over spilt milk.
