Following on from last years visit by the cruis ship Queen Mary 2,
i was wondering if anyone else was going to see the larger ship Queen Victoria tomorrow (monday july 26th).
she will be docking around 9.30 ish and leaving later on in the night.

Mersey ferry is going to be sailing up to meet her again (got my ticket :D) and also will be getting as close as possible during it's normal ferry runs.
hope you can get time to see her.
i'll be posting my best pics here sometime tuesday :D

I was disappointed with Victorias looks, she did not have the style and glamour of the old Queens or the QE2. Like a seagoing condominium, but I wish her well, maybe I'll get to sail in her sometime,

What a superb collage of photographs and all with a slightly different perspective. Here my pathetic contribution, taken from across the rooftops of Northumberland Terrace.

Great pics everyone.
I think the ship looks like a casino. Very ugly. Very Carnival
When Queen Mary 2 was first built they did a Two Queens in New York Harbour and when they left they sailed out together in the evening. One of the British charities I belong to rented a boat and we had permission to sail out with them for two hours partying of course, lots of food and wine, then we returned to the harbour. It was sad for me as Queen Mary 2 is so big and awkward and QE2 so beautiful and sleek, seeing them together was amazing. For most of the 2 hours we could only see QM2 as she is so big. Only going to join them and when we stayed back and they carried on did we get perfect views of both.
I had just got my first 'cyber' camera and had not realised you had to charge batteries every time and you had to delete pics already on!!!! I only got two perfect pics and they went down with my computer about 6 years ago!!!
I know the 'brag' about the QE2 was that she was built to exactly fit into the Panama Canal so she could do a 'full and proper' world cruise. I have pics of us in the canal and we look as if we are sailing on land!!! The overhead pics the camera crew took are amazing, looks like we are going down a road at one point! These ships would never fit.
So I suppose this means I DON'T LIKE THESE NEW SHIPS, lol They are big ugly hotels. The Epic was just here, Jeez, another monstrosity! Just my opinion.

Got to admit, they look like a block of flats, with a funnel on! The QE2 is much more graceful looking!

Hi Ronijane, ........"These ships would never fit."..
The Queen Vitoria does go through the Panama, she does it when she does the World Cruise. I have a photo somewhere that I got off the Panama Canal web cam.
Queen Mary 2 is too big for the Canal. The new Queen Elizabeth coming out in October is 90,000 tons the same as Queen Vic will also go through the Panama Canal.

here's two of my best.. which is being kind. the rest are to foggy to be honest, when i get the hang of editing photos i may post more.
thanks for posting all of your photos, they all look great :D
hope you had a great day and didn't get to wet in all that rain. After the fog first cleared i ended going up to the cathedral tower in the hopes of some nice views, but the fog returned by the time i had climbed to the top lmfao. stood in a cloud :gnasher:
oh well, never mind lol

My youngest son said it was more like a building than on the ship. :)

The press kit says she can but it must be a strange fit as we touched (scraped!) the sides of the canal at its narrowest point.

I took this in dry dock in So'ton. We broke mid Atlantic in winter and bobbed for two days and a few months later we had to go into dry dock The OOOPS is one of those stick on funnies we use to buy.

Why has the Baltic Fleet Pub painted it's chimney's to match the Cunard line ships?

I like the 'square shape' similarities too, Dazza, and who knows, perhaps the pub is setting off to a better location!!!! "Bon Voyage"! Baltic Fleet.:D Cheers.

Ha, you're probably right there Norm. It has it's own brewery as well, so there's nothing keeping it from cutting and running. Bon Voyage indeed.
Ode to the Baltic Fleet :
Cunard chimneys on the roof,
Been drinkin' 'shine 100% proof,
Paint the town red from top to...,
Baltic Fleet cellars and tunnels beneath,
Buggered if I can find any more red paint?.

The Skipper on that ship is The "Captain of the World".
What a great Title to have. "I am the MASTER of the WORLD."

I guess the owners of the floating condominium wanted to do a Beatles Tour...:)
Having a shared "floating home" is an interesting idea.
