I will be coming up with my own original pic but because Philip's great pic conjured up visions of the "Drink Me" bottle in Alice in Wonderland I thought I would post the following--

Thank you, Chris.
I was pleased to see the subject was bottles, as I've collected old bottles over the years, and tried to get as many different colours as possible.

The stoneware ginger beer bottle at left is offset with some memorabilia: Two cards from Liverpool, one showing the Roman Catholic Cathedral, the other a Christmas card with Liver Bird, an old Higson's beer mat with Liver Bird, an old pound note, a wooden box with my Grandad's medals from the First World War and his cap badge from the Lancashire Fusiliers, and an old clay pipe bowl I found in my grandparents' Mossley Hill garden.

I love this thread. Got bugger all to contribute, but it stimulates the old brainbox to think "I must have something" - still thinking/searching

Hi Sloyne

I can state with confidence that it is the Liverpool stamp. Very nice. Also curious about the number "6006" for a stamp issued in 2006. Will Liverpool still be here in 6006? I bloody well hope so!!!!

Also curious about the number "6006" for a stamp issued in 2006.No idea Chris but, I will enquire next time I go through LPL. However, and this is just a rough guess, it might be the immigration officers badge number.

You're probably right, Sloyne. Did you come in on a direct flight from Canada or from Florida? :)

Did you come in on a direct flight from Canada or from Florida? :)No Chris, it was Intra Europe via Barcelona, aboard an easyJet flight. We had left a cruise in that port and spent a week touring the city and nearby Girona before flying to Liverpool. If we had used our UK/EU passport it would not have been stamped so we opted to present our Canadian documents. We never present our Canadian passports at MAN. Don't want that stamp in our passports.:)

PS: If travelling from Canada or the US, I would recommend plussing through one of Europes gateways as opposed to London. Liverpool now have direct connections with Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Paris but still no air connection with it's own capitals major air gateway. Also, if you book the EU-LPL segment early enough you will pay an almost obscene small amount for your fare. We paid 19 Euros each for our BCN-LPL flight, that's the equivelent of paying US$21.00 between BOS-MIA.

Thanks for the info and advice, Sloyne. You made me laugh about the MAN stamp.

Just spotted this thread. Here's a lonely empty bottle of whisky standing all alone in a doorway. No doubt it had known better times.

Spotted at the Albert Dock. I hope its contents helped the drinker to "burn bright" to slightly misquote the well known poem of the same name.

Discarded sherry bottle in Toxteth Park Cemetery. Some go here to drink themselves into oblivion. The curious thing about this bottle is that it still has its screw cap top in place.

This bottle was probably thrown rather than having "accidentally fallen". Interesting reflection in Birkenhead Park Lake
