David Moyes agreed that the 3-0 win at Watford was just what he needed.
The manager enjoyed the comfortable success at Vicarage Road after the midweek setback against Tottenham Hotspur.
"It was nice to get back on the rails," he smiled.
"Our first-half performance was excellent. We started well, got the goal then another one and we had chances to score more from James Beattie and Tim Cahill, which would have made the second half much easier than it was."
Moyes added that he was expecting a big performance from his players today because of the positive atmosphere in the dressing room and on the training ground this week.
"The determination from the players was excellent today and I could sense it even before the game," he said.
"The difficult thing when you play Watford is that their style means that a ball into the box can quite easily be knocked down for someone to finish.
"Watford got one or two opportunities but I always felt that if we could get the ball down and play we could get another goal."
Goals from Manuel Fernandes, Andy Johnson and Leon Osman wrapped up another three points for Everton...with Osman's injury time cracker the pick of the bunch.
The midfielder lashed home a superb drive in stoppage
"It was a great goal," purred the boss. "I was right behind it looking from the dug-out and from the moment it left his foot I fancied it all the way. It was the icing on the cake."
