Spike, tried the thread on this, but no further posting!
The "Echo" did a Beatles special, this week, and had various pic's of the lad's, and their former haunts! This pic' shows the John Lennon memorial mosaic,in Central park, and I think, something similar might be a good idea for for George,as it doesn't take up a large amount of space, and would look good in Chavasse park!?
There was also one of the guy who painted the Strawberry Fields gates, which is incontravertable proof, that there are good Manc's!!!! (well,Rochdale really, which is Mancish.:smirk:)
Photo's courtesy of the Liverpool Echo.

...and Ringo was 70 at the weekend.
I would be happy to wait 'till he and Macca pop their clogs and do one big memorial. :)
George does have a few temples to his name. :)

Yes we did post. I had said that to actually DO SOMETHING we would have to write to or phone the authorities first and ask them to do it and make suggestions to them, like Meditation Garden. We all suggested places for a little meditation garden. Then if the authorities said they would not pay but would allow the use of land (as a portion of a park for instance) we would have to involve people like Olivia Harrison, Dhani Harrison, people with clout. Then open a petition and as I said. just like the British Memorial Gardens here for the 67 Brits who died in the twin towers, MONEY would have to be donated from maybe concerts, the people signing the petition, friends of George, and so on. I had said once the authorities were contacted by Spike and we knew what they were willing to do we could then start the petition, the letters to Dhani etc. I offered to help out. Maybe the Liverpool authorities would pick up the tab themselves as an added draw to the City's sightseeing spots.
It was left that Spike had contacted a very close friend of Olivia and he was waiting for an answer. I would think the authorities first as all other requests of this kind start. Usually people put the work in and get permission before asking the family to shine a spotlight on the cause.
It ended with that.

Well, doesn't look like it'll happen in Chavasse Park
CHAVASSE Park was chosen as the site for a new peace monument in memory of John Lennon.
The 18ft sculpture will be unveiled on October 9, on what would have been the former Beatle’s 70th birthday, by his son Julian.
The memorial statue is being created by California-based organisation Global Peace Initiative which hopes to place peace monuments on every continent.
Liverpool’s will be the memorial for Europe. [more...] (http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2010/07/30/john-lennon-monument-set-for-chavasse-park-100252-26960485/)

I have involved a few people in this. Formal letters have been written and sent to the city council. As yet no reply.
George's wife Olivia. We have a person who can contact. She is a very private lady so we will have to see what happens.
Nothing is going to happen fast. We have to wait for a reply before anything else is done.
I have a few Beatle nuts onto this. They will bring big back up from around the world if petitions are needed.
Who knows, one day.

Olivia is private but she DOES get involved with things pertaining to George.
The authorities come first though, we can always contact her, Ringo etc. when there is a plan.
Who has been contacted, more of us can write to the same people to make sure they know it is something many people want?

We need Liverpool City Council to reply to our letter first. A formal letter has been sent to them. It notes our reasons for a memorial and our intentions of taking it further.
We need their reply before moving on.

You can give us the name and address you wrote to and we will write the same thing. This is standard practice as when more than one letter on the same subject come in they take notice. One letter is often overlooked. Like requesting music on the radio, the more requested ones are the ones played.

Personally if I was recieving multiple letters regarding the same subject I'd be more likely to ignore them

I know Spike is taking an extended sabbatical from Yo but what's the chances of a little park/area being incorporated into the Central Village plans ?

Maybe, but most politicians just count letters - they don't read them, just stack them into Yes-No piles.
It is better if all of the letters have the same subject and same request, but are not identical form letters.
I'll write one too...

Me too. I can have George's cousin write one as well. No, of course not identical letters. That would smack of one person sending the. We just need to know who was written to and send letters to the same place.

I would like to see Tommy Handley memorialised also, as he helped us laugh our way through the Second World War. The Pier Head would be the ideal place for it.

Despite the first place, we can feel free to contact her, Ringo, etc., when there is a plan. Who to contact, we can write the same people, to ensure that they know that this is a lot of people want?
