I just googled Eliza and she was a charitable soul :handclap:

In 1851 Mary and Eliza Cort, daughters of the Rev. Robert Cort, lately incumbent, gave a rent-charge of £10 out of a house and lands at Arkholme for the benefit of eight poor persons of Kirkby and six of Simonswood. Their father had died intestate, but he had intended to make this gift. The rent-charge was redeemed in 1883, and is represented by £333 consols, producing £8 6s. 8d. a year. Eliza Alice Cort in 1869 left £300 for fuel and clothing for the poor of Kirkby and Simonswood; this produces £7 15s. 8d. a year

My Mom and Dad, Yoria C. Matchett and Gordon B. George, were married February 22, 1945 at St. Anne's Church, Aigburth Road. I have to properly scan some photos from the wedding but meanwhile I took the following photo from the wedding album with my Samsung several nights ago. Sorry it is not as clear as it should be!

Thanks, Gerard. The other thing that my Mom told me was that the ATS girls weren't invited to the wedding so it was a big surprise to see them outside the church when my Mom and Dad came out.

Interesting, Chris, that your parents were married at St Annes.
I've mentioned Mrs Roberts (who lived in Holmefield Lodge) - her funeral service was held at St Annes.
She was married in the Ancient Chapel of Toxteth.

Thanks for that information, Philip. A contact has given me information on a couple called Orme who ran the parish school for St. Anne's in the 1830's. They were related to the Scouse-American comedian John E. Owens and he mentions them in his memoirs. They lived in Aigburth Vale where the school was also located.
