View Full Version : US billionaire joins Gillett in Anfield bid
Paul D 02-02-2007, 03:10 PM A SECOND American tycoon has joined forces with US mogul George Gillett in a bid to take control of Liverpool FC.
In an unprecedented move, it emerged last night that Texas billionaire Thomas "Tom" Hicks had entered into an agreement with Gillett to go half-and-half on purchasing the club.
The two men already share both business and sporting interests in the United States, but this would be the first time two major sports owners have gone into such a partnership together.
Liverpool FC were last night thought to be delighted at the development, which they believe will completely change the landscape of the takeover saga.

The club have called a news conference at 1400 GMT to announce the details of the takeover.
lets hope redevelopment now moves as quick as the take over deal, exciting times for the reds
Paul D 02-06-2007, 12:42 PM This means that the new stadium will start in March then.
Paul D 02-06-2007, 03:01 PM I've just watched the whole of the press conference there and I think Liverpool have made the right move.I think they said everything that the fans wanted to hear and eased any doubts they may have had.The debt is cleared and the new stadium will be on site in 60 days and the money for players is there. All in all these men seem very shrewd and I think they're the right men to put Liverpool back at the top.

Yes i agree with you its the right move for the club i think mr moores must be gutted he lives for the club and new he had to sell to keep us at the top.we all no the game has been taken away from the working man god if you had 2 kids and wanted to go to the footy now it would cost you a weeks holiday in gronant.back to being serious if you think the millions mr moores will receve for his shares will ease his pain i think it wont make a shred of difference to him he had plenty before he sold so thankyou mr moores for all that you have put into our club.

Everton the peoples club:handclap:
On 28 March 2007 a team of Everton Greats will take on a team of former Barcelona players to help raise the funds to acquire the David France Collection.
This will be the first occasion that the two clubs have met since 1924 when Everton won the Barcelona Cup in a four-way tournament designed to help the fledgling Catalan club. That Cup has resided at Goodison Park ever since.
"Our association with FC Barcelona stems from our dealings with the European Former Players Association of which both clubs are leading lights in their respective countries," said Tony Tighe, a Trustee of the Charity.

It gets better Johnno..
A US tycoon behind the takeover of Liverpool FC ran a firm which dumped hundreds of UK workers without a penny, it emerged yesterday.
Tom Hicks chaired circuit board maker Viasystems when it folded owing £4million to staff.
Ex-employees - due up to £50,000 redundancy each - got a statutory payout from the Government of just 2p for every £1.
Chemist Selby Armstrong, 67, entitled to £46,000, got £7,200.
He said: "I feel very bitter he can still buy into this country."
In 2001 Viasystems filed for bankruptcy in the US, forcing closure of plants in Newcastle, South Shields and Scotland with a loss of 2,000 jobs.
Tom Ross of the GMB union said: "His former firm left a legacy of despair."
Hicks, 61, has a £400million fortune.

snappel 02-08-2007, 12:24 PM Welcome to the harsh world of business. I couldn't believe the fuss the fans made about Man Utd and Glazer - the club had previously sold out to become a PLC, what did they expect? LFC is a cash cow for the shareholders, and I dare say these guys will milk it for all it's worth.
Harsh world of business!!? ... It seems the clubs been sold to two 'fly by night' Del Boys, bnd the fans shouldn't say a d!ckie bird.
