I "borrowed" 5 old cine films a little while ago. Finally got a 16mm projector too. These old cine films, the majority of the footage wouldn't really interest people if they never knew the main location they were filmed in. They are from the 30's, 50's and 60's.
Anyway, I have managed to cut out some footage that may interest some folk on here, footage of Liverpool city centre at Christmas in the 60's.
It also has some footage of Codman's Punch & Judy during a summer fair.
Please bear in mind, the "running" filming was shaky, but you do get glimpses of outside Owen Owen, Blacklers and T.J.'s at Christmas, among other locations. OH, and turn the sound down a bit, I have put a song over it to try and drown out the sound of the projector !
Thanks to JMLE for his assistance :ninja:

Someone should retrace some of those roads now...

It's interesting to see how few cars were on the road - either driving or parked....:)

That was a wonderful little film,it showed our city in all its smokey glory.Your right Az gila, there were very few cars about then and what there were were mostly bangers.Rust was a popular colour back then, but we did have a cracking tram and bus service . I was almost homesick watching it,thanks,

Spot on George, thanks for the advice.
I had a couple of hiccups along the way but got there in the end.
The full DVD is about 30 mins but these were the best bits of around Liverpool.

Do you want a Start ship Enterprise? Check post #6 from this link http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=50089&highlight=lewis%27s to see what's being sold in June from Lewis' ex-displays.

Weird. Drove to my parents house from work tonight and the route took me through Old Swan. Certainly a lot different today and definitely a lot more cars.

Nice to see Royal Iris (1:59 onwards) where she belongs - bit sad now to think where she is now.

Great vid, thanks for sharing.

Spot on George, thanks for the advice.

It copied well, but you left a border round it... as I stated early on in the thread is to get the minimium border round the projected image as this will fill the whole screen when viewed and also make the video larger ie zoomed in.

It was my first time George :noid:
I thought it gave it a bit of atmosphere !
I was half expecting the Keystoe Cops to appear :PDT_Aliboronz_24:

George

Na poblem Martin.

The problem about the keystone cops scenario is that 8mm cine was running at 18 to 24fps(Frames Per Second) and a Digital Recorder runs at 30fps hence that appearence and the only way to reduce that is after its video its imported into a editing studio progam and converted to 25/30fps

But on saying this it will destroy that moment in time ie the 60's or 70's era.

I used to love messing about with my Sony Camcorder at it had a frame by frame function on it ie I made short putty animations like that Nick Park blokey who does creature comforts.

Mart, good work :o)

This site pretty much says the same as George on how to do it. http://www.ehow.com/how_5038623_convert-movie-reels-dvd.html

Did u add the music afterwards or play it at same time as doing the recording ?

hmtmaj
05-20-2010, 04:35 PM
Added it after, on the PC, if I didn't you'd hear the projector even louder :PDT_Xtremez_42:

George
05-20-2010, 04:42 PM
Dunno what Camcorder yer have? but locate the mic hole? and tape a bit of polystyrene over the hole and this will reduce the noise even better.

scouse smurf
05-20-2010, 04:46 PM
How did u add it ?. Just thinking u possibly could of turned the sound off on the video, so u don't get the projector noise at all :)

Bit mysterious at the begining of that clip ie there was a red van parked up then this wagon was followed with the cine camera and then this red van was following the wagon.

That van looked like a french type of box van?
