THE Great British Public have voted that Liverpool should be crowned the capital of the North.

The city pipped larger neighbours Manchester and Birmingham to the number one spot as the city that most deserved to be the capital of the North in an online poll.

Scoring an overwhelming 40%, its closest rival Newcastle could not compete with a lowly 21% of votes.

Leader of Liverpool City Council, Cllr Warren Bradley, said he was not at all surprised by the voting, and said the people of Merseyside had known for some time that the city was the best in the North.

He said: "We understand the value of the brand of Liverpool and how good it is. There are no surprises for us with this poll, as we know that Liverpool is being recognised for what it has to offer nationally and internationally."

I know that Liverpool has been known as The Capital of North Wales for years now.
No mention of this on the Manchester Media Mafia (aka NWTonight) Though they have said on a couple of occasions that Manchester is the UK's 'second city' That's where we and Manchester differ......they think they are the 'Second City' but WE know that honour belongs to London:D

Historically we are the Second city, the sooner Manchester wakes up to that the better :celb (23):

Whats the actual source of this 'poll' though? The Echo report hardly gives much background, except its an online one. Where was the pop up, their website perhaps? I still think the results are great though :)
