That 4th one from the left, the girl stood on the table in the pub singing has always fascinated me.

The customers dont look over the moon at her either, unless its just the traditional Victorian stiff upper lip.

The location is usually given as Richmond Row. I didn't know you could upload that many thumbnails into the one message and there's me doing 5 at a time on the other thread <doh>

The black lad at the steble fountain went on to sing all over the world, see the Scottie press website for details of that cos i've forgotten the full details.

Ged, that's interesting. Wonder if they know his name on the web-site?

Kev, those pictures did bring a tear to my eye.

Those kids had a raw deal in life didn't they.

They're going to build on the playground!

One of the great things about Eldon Grove is the fact that you can see the wide sweep of it without interruption.

Ged, you pipped me to the post :) I had a root through Scottie Press before, and I got a bit tired as I've been staring at the computer too much tonight !! So I book marked it for tomorrow.
You saved me the trouble of searching. :handclap:

That info is SO interesting. I know that picture well - the one of the kids at the fountain. I had no idea that boy turned out to be famous - and in Argentina too. Wow !

I have some Argentinian friends who will be interested to see that :celb (23):

Lindylou and anyone else interested. The scottie press site is a mine of info regarding the Vauxhall and Everton areas. You could spend a week traipsing through the whole site looking for a small article so just go to the search menu on the left and for instance I just typed in 'steble' to get this article up right away.

Awww..poor little kids.. mostly shoeless also.. Only a few looked like they were happy...

The one of the little girl singing in the pub, reminds me of Lynn Andrews book.. Liverpool Songbird.. How she'd sing to keep herself and family going.. while her dad drank himself to bits...

Great and interesting photos whoever where those journalist at that time..Bravo ..... excellant work..ta Kev
