theninesisters 01-05-2007, 01:00 PM Thought I'd put this in a new thread as it's slightly different from all the others.
Basically photo's of foundation stones that display more than just the date of the building.
I've started with St Barnies:

That's a good idea, Jona.
I know you've already posted a photo of St B's, but can we have the complete building as well as the foundation stone in this thread?
I'll start snapping. :)

taffy 01-06-2007, 09:23 AM Nice photo Kev. Nice to see the name Toxteth proudly displayed. Don't the locals think this area is in Aigburth though

ChrisGeorge 01-12-2007, 07:58 PM Great photograph, Kev, and I would also welcome knowing where this is. "Councillor Max Muspratt" -- wonderful name!!!!
Chris
PhilipG 01-12-2007, 08:04 PM It's opposite McDonalds at the Ullet Road end of Aigburth Road.
I'd much rather say that McDonalds is opposite the former Toxteth Institute. :)
For you ex-Pats, McDonalds was built on the site of Parkfield Motors.
where about is that kev?
The old Shorefields Comp building.
theninesisters 01-12-2007, 08:07 PM Us St Mag's boys used to have run in's with the Shorefields lot :gossip:  :61:

The foundation stone was from the period when it was a methodist church. The methodists don't seem to have survived very well in Wavertree with a number of their churches closing down. Similarly the United Reform Church whose original main building in Earle Rd is now a mosque.

ChrisGeorge 05-05-2007, 12:44 PM Great pic, Mandy! Thanks! :handclap:

taffy 06-27-2007, 05:08 PM St Mary's Victoria Park Wavertree was originally a Wesleyan Methodist Church. It was purchased after WW2 by the Church of England to replace the bomb damaged original St Mary's Church, Sandown Park. This interesting pair od foundation stones show continuity between the two sites.
marky 10-12-2007, 12:42 AM Just thought I'd mention that Tocky Tech. reaches its' Centenary on 17th October 2007 (this Wednesday). Worth photographing, if I don't forget by next week. It's the red-brick building at the start of Aigburth Road.
(See first page of this thread for the date-stone)
