Is there to be one this year after the disappointment of one not being held at St. Georges Hall last year as it was in 2005 (due to work in the main hall)

I'm sure somewhere could have been found but we must have one on our birthday surely and next year without doubt.

Hiya Dave. Ron's not sure but I emailed Marcia Hughes at BBC Radio Merseyside who usually organises the stalls etc. She seems to think so and will let us know as soon as she can. It's good to see the Wavertree, Lee Jones, Kensington societies and whoever all there bigging up their own areas, showing photos etc. I'm hoping that Paul, Ron and I can put something on too.

This years it will be spread over 3 days instead of two. The fri/sat/sun from 14-16th September. One ticket will get you into events happening at the St. George's Hall, Museum and Library (though the latter two are usually free anyway) It is hoped there will be a vintage car display on St. George's plateau and other contributors including Paul's Gardens of Stone film being shown in one of the side rooms on a continual loop with screen times advertised in the corridor.

One down side to this in my opinion is that the stall holders fee and entrance fee normally goes to BBC Radio Merseyside's Charitable trust but as the Culture Co. are hi-jacking this as one of their events (just like the Mathew street festival this year, although both have clearly been held here before the CC involvement) then this won't happen so I wonder where it is going?

Still, after the disappointment of last years cancellation due to St. George's Hall being closed for refurbishment, it is hoped that in this birthday year of ours, it will be better than ever.

This year called 'The Big History Festival'. Marcia Hughes of the BBC Radio Merseyside charitable trust that all the proceeds usually go to (but not this year) will be speaking on the Billy Butler show all about it after 2.30 today.

Yes. I was there a couple of years ago but last years was called off due to repairs and updates in the building. There are a number of Liverpool History films being shown this year including Paul's (The Gardens) 'Gardens of Stone'.

cant wait for september now:)

My dad went a lord mayors party at St Georges hall when he was about 9. it was for kids who had lost their fathers in ww2. how sad is that, imagine all them kids and no dads ever coming home.

he told me a photo was taken and was on the front page of The Liverpool Echo. i would love to find that pic. i think he said it was near christmas? it would be around 1946-48.

might have to pop the record office with a flask and butties.

Do some weights before you go as well, especially for your right arm if it's on that microfilm.
