sorry to keep on but does anyone have any other info or pics of this area of smithdown rd

maybe you used to live or work that way?

i have a few bits of info :

before changing hands, the hire shop was called M + H Hire.
Before that i believe it was a tyre shop and before that i think it was a funeral directors.

there used to be a garage directly opposite hewden, and one of the men who worked in the garage told one of the stories that has been passed on down the years- that on the site of the current Hewden car park, a bomb hit during the war and there has been a slope there ever since, no matter how many times they have tarmacced over it!

yes i am sad but im just interested thats all :)
