View Full Version : We used to laugh at....
Thinking back to the mid to late 1980's, a time when everything we wanted from USA felt like years to filter through into the UK, walkmans, videos, more tv channels etc....whilst listening to some fine music and wishing we had MTV.
...and at the same time we thank our lucky stars that we lived in Blighty and would laugh at the 'madness' of their plastic surgery, huge burgers (i wanted these though, they are not so bad in moderation), Miami muscle beaches, white teeth, teeny dogs carried around in handbags as fashion and white rap artists. Do u remember?
Lets get back to 2006/2007 UK and lets marvel at the wonders of our Tanning Salons, Nail Salons, Hair Specialists, cosmetic surgeries and wait for it....... Doggy Boutiques popping up everywhere in Liverpool.
The Doggy Boutique phenomenon, whats all that about?
Paul D 12-29-2006, 03:51 PM Kev American culture has taken us over,I remember the first McDonalds opening in Liverpool it was a big thing, now they have them in the Andes, according to Roger Waters anyway.
I remember the 80's for 'the tube' , 'roller discos', great british music from Fad Gadget to Bauhaus, the 4AD label, Mute records, beggars banquet, and Factory records....... oh and the birth of Acidhouse and rave parties in 88/89 .... not forgetting mass riots, industrial strife, civil disobediance, and public protest.
I loved the 80's :celb (23):

It's the Paris Hilton trend isn't it... Where most girls from the ages of 12 up to 21 think it is great to have the orange tan with straightened hair in a little alice band or slide... velour tracksuit by pineapple and enough bling round their neck to put Mr T to shame... the 'here's a dog, it matches my coat' is just an extension of all the above.

It was proper frowned upon though wasn't it? Like wearing fur.
PhilipG 12-29-2006, 05:47 PM Most dogs do need their coats trimmed and their claws clipped, just like us.
Holly used to scream blue murder when I tried to cut her claws!
Obviously, some people go too far.

Well I think it is mighty cruel to dress the dog up, I mean, how does it use the bathroom if it has lycra shorts on.
Plus they carry them round in little prada/dior bags etc
I really don't know what the deal is, apart from being a fashion accessory.
What's wrong with walking the dog through mud and lashing it in the bath when you get in.... forget about painting it's toenails!
