No!! That forum is full of plantpots. Let them stay there and wallow in their own ignorance.

Just checked out your posts. You are deffo not the one to pontificate. Smartbottom.

They're bangng on about creating some sort of 21st Liverpool Century Society which is a good idea, but none of them have a clue how to promote it media wise. Bunch of talking heads. I see Liverpolitan has taken over. Oh Dear! LOL!
I don't visit the forum that often now but back in 2005 it was the place to go for renders and the latest development pics. Using the SSC forum has certainly been good for Yo! Liverpool as many SSC members are members here. I don't know much about what's been going on there recently but there doesn't seem to be much action despite a faster and updated forum.
Everyone's welcome here and if more members migrate across then 'sound' :celb (23):. There's loads of good stuff going on here thanks to the contributions of members.

That's because I posted the pics that they couldn't. LOL! Some of the older members "replied" with their feigned indifference which always made me laugh:celb (23):
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 07:19 PM I've just been tempted by it because over the past few days it's been so quiet on here. I like it. I like it here. It's a good thing there's a difference too.
I think the discussions on there are pretty in-depth. Maybe too in-depth for some. Whilst you can't always agree with the flow there's some smart cookies on there that's for sure.
Yoliverpool's clearer in layout and scope (oh and apologies to the mods for my part in taking the 'PSD' thread off-topic btw), whereas SSC sprawls all over the shop.
ScouserD, Liverpolitan's a good and unusual writer I think. I can see some people may not like the more 'poetical' freeforming but I have to say I do. Moreover underneath his florid prose he makes some seriously astute points, you don't think? Again, not saying I particularly agree with all of them but he's one of the ones who has interesting stuff to say at least.
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 07:22 PM ...anyway internet communities are wierd things.

You babble on just like Liverpolitan. Mmmmm! LOL!
A.D.W 12-19-2006, 07:43 PM When I was a lad I used to like using SSC, but sadly I was banned for having an opinion that certain 'happy' mod's didn't like. I went back as 'the letter q' and was banned for using the :) .
:)
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 07:47 PM If I ever need a useful critical appraisal off you Dave I'll ask for it thanks.
Why do you get banned anyway?

You were banned for using a smiley??
Mind you, fair enough I suppose.

The use of the :) appeared to wind come 'happy' mod's up. I'll say no more.

Why's that then?
scouserdave 12-19-2006, 07:59 PM Why do you get banned anyway?
I complained about one of their avatars. You know this anyway.
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 08:02 PM Whooaaah there jackie-boy! How do I know about that?
I just knew you'd been banned.
What was on the avatar?
scouserdave 12-19-2006, 08:04 PM The Teardrop Explodes posts are morphing into Liverpolitan's! LOL!
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 08:05 PM yeah comic genius, so what was on the avatar?

WTF does that bablle mean Kev?
WTF does that bablle mean Kev?
Babble? Dave, I think you have created now 3 separate threads on SSC and the problems there. I've removed the last two. In each one the posts have been similar which is fair enough but they are problems u have had there and not here.
Lets make Yo! Liverpool a welcoming place for people and members here.
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 08:31 PM WTF does that bablle mean Kev?
He means 'have a lie down Dave.' All that, ahem, "laughter" seems to have to gotten to your head lad.
Only asked you a question. Surprised you can get so worked up.
Lets make Yo! Liverpool a welcoming place for people and members here.
Well said Kev.
But I like listening to the number one internet show 'All Our Yesterdays' (get a podcast together gang) :celb (23):

There is? As long as its tall, tall and tall. It could be the crappest building in the world, but they will like it because it is tall. Some odd-balls there. A whole conference could be set studying them.
The Teardrop Explodes 12-19-2006, 11:00 PM Wellll...I really enjoyed reading the 'Rebuilding' thread, I thought that was a top discussion.
Also thought your face-off with Sebo was a proper meaty debate. (I err towards your side on that btw)
Also read through a number of other really good discussions.
As I say I'm new to reading the site and it may emerge that there are good few idiots on there (undoubtedly that will be the case such is the nature of internet forums) but as I say I think parts of it are very high-quality.
As too I might add are your contributions. I think a lot of us learn lots from them whether we agree or not. It's the tone rather than the message- and the tone you adopt is I'm sure down to the depth of knowledge and feeling you have for the subjects- which might alienate some. But that's the difficulty of internet communication-it's not the easiest trick.
So I'd say it's a shame for them and for you that you can't post there.
They don't count Skybar posts as posts so I should have 5 not 3 there!
I'd make that forum interesting in no time If I wanted too. Too boring to post.
Just reading through as much as I can on 21st century Liverpool now. Can someone shorten what they want to do for me please so my eyeballs are wasted on watching ninjas?
Waterways 12-19-2006, 11:57 PM So I'd say it's a shame for them and for you that you can't post there.
I don't want to - I have had enough of them. People obsessed with concrete for the sake of it. I'm sure they have shares in Readymix.

They want to built anything high with concrete - anywhere for no apparent reason. They preach to each other, who are all already converted, and bannish disenters. Plantpots.
So they want to mess up the environment too?
The Teardrop Explodes 12-20-2006, 12:10 AM What's the score with the endangered West Waterloo?
Also, what happening with that canal link? Do they have to wait for the Museum to go on site first?
I know you're not so big on the canal but how about the the feasibility of a network of canalised roads into the city?
The Kings Dock renders appear to feature an extended Dukes dock continuing under a bridged Strand into the Formule 1 area* Be good if that were the case.
*thought it was the Chavasse but I just checked again..
The Teardrop Explodes 12-20-2006, 12:23 AM I'll explain the city canals:
Extended Dukes ->Chavasse->Hanover St->Church St->Lord St to Mann Island.
Then to the North: The little streets of Vulcan/Cotton St to Stanley Warehouse, then under Great Howard and carrying on into the area bordered by the railway. This would make an excellent setting for our own Amsterdam type area, a bohemian, sleazy district with rehearsal rooms, clubs, pubs and peepshows amongst the reworked warehouses and new build.
Ever read Kevin Samson's "Clubland"?

Quite correct.
Please accept my apologies Kev. I'm sorry.
ayjaykay 12-20-2006, 10:19 AM I used to visit Skyscraper City quite often but I moved here instead because it started to get incredibly boring there.
Waterways 12-20-2006, 12:08 PM So they want to mess up the environment too?
If they can get high concrete things in, yes. Every one of them wants the World Heritage Site dropped because it stops tall concrete things being built on the hertitage site. Plantpots the lot of them. A whole shinks conference could be set on them.
Waterways 12-20-2006, 12:22 PM What's the score with the endangered West Waterloo?
Hit the link in the sig. All is there. The in-fill was rejected. Expect more proposals from these sharks, so not over yet.
Also, what happening with that canal link? Do they have to wait for the Museum to go on site first?
It is going ahead and the canal has been moved over when running through the partially filled in Trafalgar Dock.
I know you're not so big on the canal but how about the the feasibility of a network of canalised roads into the city?
I like the canal link. The problem is to accommodate it the city prostituted itself and gave into demands from Peel/British Waterways that docks be infilled to canal boat depths. This precludes deep water vessels entering the docks near the city centre. A renovated SS Manxman and maybe Royal Iris and all the Birkenhead historic ships cannot now be berthed in docks near the centre.
You have to question the sanity of the people running the city do such an asinine thing.
The Kings Dock renders appear to feature an extended Dukes dock continuing under a bridged Strand into the Formule 1 area* Be good if that were the case.
They don't. There will be no extention of any dock water space. A great thing and should be done.

Great idea. I doubt they would like the Church St/Lord St part as that is shopping.

Not read that. I need to read Stars Are Stars.
Clubland's "Loin District" is what the Central North docks should be. Rotterdam crossed with Amsterdam crossed with Industrial Dockland Liverpool..
The Teardrop Explodes 12-20-2006, 01:24 PM Great idea. I doubt they would like the Church St/Lord St part as that is shopping.
Be wonderful though wouldn't it? Boats going through the centre of town, from the new Hilton, up Hanover Canal, and into a Central Village canal which would run to the back of Bold St, back down to the new Museum. I can't think of anything better, tonnes of footbridges with chestnut sellers, moored restaurant boats and boats for gigs and clubs in the centre....?
Then the rough and ready New Amsterdam district to the north?
We should push this one.

Just been reminded that Liverpolitan was the person who came out with the quoute about Capt Noel Chavasse (http://www.chavasse.u-net.com/chavasse.html): "I just don't think Liverpool should be elevating the memory of a posh person whose behaviour would probably not have been noted let alone remembered and rewarded if he or she was a member of the working class"
'cept' if he was called Tony Benn aye :d
scouserdave 12-22-2006, 09:33 PM Brainstorming now:
I wonder what Tony Benn thinks of Chavasse?
BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/4589347.stm)
"Most poignant was possibly Captain Noel Chavasse, who "never fired a shot." The Liverpool doctor who "devoted his life to his boys," rescued the wounded in no-man's land, before dying in 1917"

I don't see why Captain Chavasse shouldn't have got his VC's. No harm in naming that park after him either.

I think we should name Newsham Park after Degsy Hatton. My mum was always complaining that I returned home smelling of dogshiite after visiting there as a kid.
