Joe Neary kindly sent me a load of his photos of Liverpool FC's homecoming after winning the FA Cup in 1965 for the first time in the club's history.

I remember that. They came out the station and went a circle of the centre and ended up at the town hall - Lime St, Ranleigh St, Church St, Lord St and Castle St. I was opposite Central Station with my cousin - I am an Everton fan and he took me down, otherwise I would never have been there. It was crap route and far too many people crammed in. The next year when Everton won the FA Cup they showed the trophy from St. Georges steps after a tour around Queens Drive from Allerton Station - the city tour was to prevent large numbers entering the centre. Nevertheless there must have been 30,000 in Lime St.

Great photographs! Thank you, Dave! I was at Wembley in 1965 and was in the crowd on Castle Street for the homecoming to see the Cup when the team arrived at the Town Hall.
