I assume this is the Grade II listed boundary stone? I can just make out a 'W' and a 'G' either side of the dividing line.

Hello Marky I believe I remember this boundary stone when I lived in Mossley Hill. Am I right, it is near the junction of Dovedale Road and Rose Lane? I believe the "W" and "G" will probably be Wavertree and Garston. An alternative might be Woolton and Garston but I think the former option is more probable. Any other opinions? Chris marky 12-07-2006, 08:57 AM It's just a bit down the hill from the church (and on the same side). I just hope the letters don't stand for Water and Gas. I don't know its' age, but guess it's old. ChrisGeorge 12-07-2006, 10:15 AM It's just a bit down the hill from the church (and on the same side). I believe I recall other such boundary stones elsewhere in Liverpool but don't ask me where I saw them because I don't clearly remember. Chris MissInformed 12-07-2006, 03:57 PM wow great pic I don't know anything about this stone, and yet I lived near Dovedale for years! Hi MissInformed As Marky clarified, the stone is across the railway bridge from Dovedale and up on the hill by Mossley Hill Church. Chris MissInformed 12-07-2006, 05:13 PM thanks chris will have a look out for it! taffy 01-04-2007, 05:02 PM Hello Marky I believe I remember this boundary stone when I lived in Mossley Hill. An alternative might be Woolton and Garston but I think the former option is more probable. Any other opinions? Chris It's definitely Wavertree and Garston. I believe the boundary ran down the middle of Rose Lane. A little further along down Rose Lane past Mossley Hill station going towards Mather Avenue, there's another boundary stone set in a wall on Rose Lane with the letters W and A separated by a vertical line. This shows the boundary between Allerton and Wavertree which again ran down the middle of Rose Lane. Looking towards Mather Ave, Allerton is on the right and Wavertree on the left. Makes a mockery of estate agents claiming that the shops on Allerton Rd and all surrounding houses must be in "Allerton".
