Hi i would like some advice on moving to this area of Liverpool pls. I have found it hard to find any on the Internet and this seems like the only forum for info on this.First i will explain what I am looking for etc.
I am a 22 yr old single parent with a 3 yr old son and do have a partner (of a year) but we don't plan to live together straight away because she has a lease on a flat. She lives in old swan area right now, Moscow drive but its expensive round there and mostly flats. Her family live in the croxteth park estate which is quite expensive to. Her mum and dad live in a nice housing estate in west derby. I am moving from Runcorn and my family live here. But I am studying at john Moore's and it will be easier to get a job in Liverpool.
I need to live somewhere with good transport and a nice area for my son to grow up in.
I get housing allowance been a full time student and would like to rent a house the most i can afford is £475 a month. Would like 3 bedrooms but know its more likely to be 2 in this area. Would also like a garden to but think this is un likely as most of the houses are terraced from what i have seen especially in old swan.
Basically I am very confused about were to live and don't have anyone who can advise me. My partners family are a bit more well of and have owned there homes in nice areas i cant afford for years.
I started looking for somewhere to rent in old swan first as my gf likes This area but any of the houses are terraced and i dont really like that housing. Is this a good area?
Another area we have seen a few places in is Tue brook also mostly terraces but it seems to have a reputation for been a good place. We are viewing a house in August lane next week don't know if anyone has heard of this street.
We are also viewing a house in Walton, newburn st. I don't know what this area is like but we are viewing it to see and it does have 3 beds.
Also another house in the edge hill area, edge lane, botanic place.
One in Richmond park, which seems to be Anfield.
Its quite confusing but we thought it would be best to view a seletcion of house to see what is the right area ect.
The last place we are viewing is in Norris green, cottesbrook close. I thought that it seemed like the best house and has a garden but after reading some of the bad things about it on here I am really not sure it is. The house isnt that important i know for my price im not as likely to get the 3 bedrooms or a garden in a good area.
Any advice will be appreciated or if anyone knows any other forums etc i can get advice form
Thanks Cathy

August rd is off Lowerbreck rd.
Richmond Park is a bit nicer than August rd. There is a play area/swing park in Richmond Park, and it is near to shops, bus stop for town, doctors & dentist near by.

Im sure people move out of Liverpool to my nan and grandad moved from there to live in Runcorn in the 70's, my family are from the liverpool area originally and stoke. I think there are some nice people in Liverpool who wouldnt mind me living there like my partner. Also there are alot of students in the city and im a full time student. Not everyone has your opinion.

You will be more than welcome in Liverpool Cathy. Have a look at Wirral, best of both worlds.

Oak Leigh is more Tuebrook, bottom of Green Lane, not saying it's not nice, just don't know that area well.
Bowley Rd is more "spike's" area, halfway down Green Lane by Russian Drive / Moscow Drive, I'm sure he'll say there is fine too.

Cathy; I worked for 20 years in Housing and have managed most areas in Liverpool and have lived in Walton, Old Swan, Aintree, Fazakerley and Lydiate. Its all down to the neighbours, isnt it? Some of the most "deprived" areas of this city have the best community. Where I live in Lydiate is not, in my opinion, very community minded, although its a lovely area. Never had major problems managing in Old Swan area and the area around Broadgreen Road was always ok (there are exceptions in every area of course). My nieces live and go to school nearby and no problems. Excellent transport links to Town etc by bus but no local train station, but good bus links to John Moores.. As you say, mostly terraced but good solid housing stock. Tuebrook is a bit more variable in my opinion and the Lisburn Lane area was much more in demand than say the Windsor Road area which was prone to more problems, probably due to high turnover of people in the flats. Aintree and Orrell Park area have great transport links to Town. A local train station and bus links. Used to live nearby and still got loads of mates there. My in laws live in Aintree by off Longmoor Lane and again, good large terraced stock which would probably be financially manageable for you. Looks like you may stick with Old Swan and if so, good luck. We always need decent people in Liverpool so you will be welcome

POLICE murder investigation teams were searching streets for evidence in connection with the murder of JD weatherspoon in the old swan area this morning.
Mr weatherspoon, 89, from west derby , was murdered and his body parts scattered across old swan and childwall earlier this year.
Police have cordoned off a section of oak leigh rd, in tuebrook , liverpool, this morning and a police spokeswoman confirmed the investigation "will take a number of days "
"TUEBROOK IS GRAND"
Police began their investigation on the businessman’s death on March 22, when a left leg was found in bowley road, tuebrook, liverpool
An arm was found in oak leigh road on March 29, a head 1 mile away in tuebrook, liverpool on March 31, and then a right leg was found beside the A 49 , by the rocket inn, old swan liverpool, on April 7.
The most recent body parts discovered was a torso, right arm and upper left arm, were discovered in childwall ,liverpool, on April 11.
yeah, and you want to move here.

Hi Cathy - I live in Old Swan. I've noticed there are about 4/5 houses "To Let" in Dovercliffe Road. All the houses have back gardens. I cannot see the rent being more than £450 per month, but could be wrong, so these are worth checking out. If you want I can look for the Letting Agent's Name and tel number and PM them to you.

cathy ive been on the dole for 20 years no House and living in sin with deb d,anunzzio and have slept rough most areas in Liverpool and have slept in Walton hall park. Old Swan budgie hospital, Aintree morgue, Fazakerley telephone tower and Lydiate by the ,onion feilds. Its all down to the neighbours, isnt it? Some of the most "deprived" areas of this city(little italy) they have the best community. Where I live in Lydiate its dead posh in my opinion, very community minded, although its a lovely area (but there are some nosy people). Never had major problems managing in Old Swan area and the area around by slaughter house it was always ok (there are exceptions in every area of course). My dog goes to the blind dog's school nearby and its great. Excellent transport links to Town in robbed cars etc or by bus but no local train station, but good bus links to dead John Moores Uni. As you say, mostly terraced but good solid housing stock (doesnt half pong though). Tuebrook is a bit more rough ass in my opinion and the Lisburn Lane area was much more in demand 70 years ago, than say the Windsor Road (wich is a show) it was an area which was prone to more problems (robbing gets), probably due to high turnover of people in the flats . Aintree and Orrell Park area have great places to rob around by the shopping centre. A local train station and bus links i used to live nearby (till i lost me house i couldnt pay the mortgage) but still got loads of mates there. My in laws live in Aintree off Longmoor Lane and again(good places to burgle), good large terraced stock which would probably be financially manageable for you. Looks like you may stick with Old Swan (that slaughter house) and if so, good luck you will need it. We will need decent people in Liverpool so you will be welcome.
That's plagiarism that is, if I was Partsky I would sue, and she should get all the compensation, none to a third party such as 'Lying lawyers are Us'
