Henry Booth (1789-1869)
was born at 34 Rodney Street. He was a corn merchant and a founder and director of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company.
A statue of him stands in the North Hall of St George's Hall holding the railway coupling which he invented.

He was buried in the ancient chapel of Toxteth on 1st April 1869, which was fittingly the day that the Liverpool-Crewe rail line opened.
