View Full Version : New Museum preview.
I have just come back from the new museum after a preview tonight.
It's fantastic inside. It's going to be the talk of Mesrseyside when it is open.
I have plenty of pictures to post on the forum but cannot post them up until after the official photos are published.
I promise as soon as I get a wiff of the go ahead, they will be posted up.
Watch this space!
I can't wait Samp. Post them soon :) Was it an organised visit?
Yes, I think it was the handing over from the contractors to the museum. Still some work to be done and I dont think it will be open this year but it will be worth the wait! All I can say is, when you look at it from the outside, then walk inside it is like walking into the Tardis! The space and the layout, has got to be seen to be believed.
The wraps are off! The Echo have published pictures of the new museum in tonights paper, so I think it is OK for me to post mine as promised.

More pictures showing the central staircase.

Excellent pics, Samp. Looks ok, but depends what they actually put in it. The main museum was a major disappointment to me when I went there after it was revamped.
Maybe I'm just too old to appreciate museums now

Same with me Smurf, it's meant for a lesser mentality.

Thanks Samp, can't wait until they've finished the fitout and put all the exhibits in place. Great images. Thanks!
I know what you mean Smurf! I like a museum to have glass cases and things like that. I don't like this hands on stuff they stick up for the kids, if they want to do that they should take the coloured cutouts and plastic models to the schools.

The best museum type of place I've been to in the last few years was St Fagans outside cardiff. obviously we couldn't have anything like that around here but like Wayne Rooney, I prefer the old look :)
Great pics Samp. Nice to see the pale green Ford Anglia resurrected from the MOLL on the official photos too. Reminds me so much of the transport museum in the basement of the old one in the 1970s.
Some more pictures of the new museum.
1 Just fot Ged the first Anglia out of Fords.
2 First floor level on the river side of the museum.
3 first floor again looking towards the central staircaes from the river side of the museum.
4 another first floor view, showing a cutaway section to the ground floor.
5 first floor again from the Albert Dock end, looking towards the river.
6 Same view zoomed in, note myself in reflection taking picture.
