Hi,

I've put together a little explanation of the features available for 'What's New', 'New Posts', 'Todays Posts', 'Quick Links' and what to do to clear them.

[This has nothing to do with the seperate 'forum' search and 'advanced' search]

'What's New' & 'New Posts'

'What's New' and 'New Posts' are essentially the same thing and will display all new threads/ posts/ blogs that you have not read yet.

Be careful, once you read the latest unread post in the 'What's New' and 'New Posts' search results, the thread will disappear from the search results until another person replies, then it will re-appear again. [See attachment 1 and 2]

Oh, yes. Your own posts DO NOT show up here.

'Todays Posts'

'Todays Posts' will display every post/ blog/ new thread that has been made in the last day, including those posts that you have 'read'. [See attachment 3]

'Quick Links'

'Quick Links' give you the option of viewing all todays posts, all this weeks posts and all posts this month! [See attachment 5]

Syndicated News Dropdown Menu Now Available

For those wishing to view and reply to the syndicated news threads as they are posted can now find them via a simple link in then navigation bar.

Click on the 'Today's Posts' for all of the threads posted today.
Click on the 'What's New' link for all new posts and replies from the syndicated news.

Hopefully members will use this and will begin replying to the news posted there.

Clearing posts that appear in 'What's New' and 'New Posts'

If you get fed-up with the amount of unread posts that appear in 'What's New' and 'New Posts', you can easily remove them by selecting 'Mark Forums Read'. This will clear them until new posts begin to appear again. [See attachment 4]

Hope this helps

Is anyone else finding the forum slower ? It's taking me twice as long to read the board as opening threads and turning back & forth takes a lot longer.

Slower lindy? I am not sure, I think it might be somehow 'bigger' with more going on. The 'Todays Posts' is a good thing, I have found.
Not that I would dare to promote such an idea, but following pablo around would get anyone around this place at a fair speed and into the darkest corners too. :)

Just discovered if I use Google chrome instead of Internet Explorer the forum moves a lot faster.

"Go to first new post" used to do just that, now it only goes to the top of the page.
As I can't find any other mention of it, it may be just me. Or does it happen to others.

Same for me. If you click "View First Unread" when you are at the top of the page it will take you to the first new post. It means it takes 2 clicks instead of the 1 it used to though.

Hopefully Ginge, this is sorted in the new update. However, there are apparently new issues and bugs in the latest realease :(

That's life :) It's still the best Forum software available though isn't it. You always expect the odd bug. The more complex it gets the more bugs that surface though.

OK silly question. When I click on "New Posts" I have (say) five pages of new posts. I read the first page, and click on page 2. Now I have six pages of new posts. By the time I get to page 5, I have about ten pages of new posts. Many of these are not new. Is this one of the bugs mentioned above?
